The hands-on experience of the introductory course in the classroom helped me

understand the many differences that exist in the classroom. Together with the help Batangas

State University Pablo Borbon CTE department, I have given a chance to do an observation at

Batangas State Integrated School with junior and high school students at all grade levels. This

will help me a lot to become an effective and excellent educator that may help his students to be

successful in life and to be a better member of a society.

My time observing was not only educational for me on how to become the teacher I

desire to be, but as well as how to better myself as a student and improve my own learning. I

observed some wonderful learning tools that I have since implemented into my own education

to develop my own learning. One-way my time spent during my fieldwork has improved my own

learning is how I manage the way I learn. During my fieldwork, I observed many ways the

teacher adjusted her lessons to accommodate different learning styles for her students to

enhance their learning. This made me think of my own cognitive learning style and how I

learned and processed information. For instance, I have learned that just simply reflecting on

what I am seeing in the classroom is not enough that I have to comprehend and gain knowledge

about the classroom in a more profound and meaningful way, such as relating observations to

theories and psychology studies. Also I have learned to reflect more deeply on what is going on

around me, not just looking at what is at the surface. I took notes during my observation. I tried

to not only write what was happening, but also why it was happening and tried to convey any

thoughts or feeling the students, teacher or myself had. Lastly, in my reflection, I improved my

reflection skills by asking myself questions, such as, “what would I do,” “how would I do it,” and

“how would I react?” Then, I would reflect back on what I had learned throughout the semester.

I realized that, teachers carry a lot of weight on their shoulders and have great

responsibilities. They have to balance the curriculum, students, parents, lesson plans, common

core, and upper management and still maintain a professional demeanor. Second, educators

must follow a strong code of ethics. They must be professional at all times with students and

colleagues, keep confidentiality, not have or show any prejudice or bias, maintain safe and

positive learning environments, help students with problems, and hand out disciplines

accordingly. Lastly, I found that when you’re a teacher, your education never stops. Teachers are

always trying to improve their own education and professional growth, both for the benefit of their

students and for the benefit of themselves. Some ways I plan to accommodate student diversity

in my teaching is to maintain a diverse learning environment for my students.

This experiences of mine includes all the reflection I gained throughout the whole

observation, all the time I spent observing different classes, all the learnings I gained that can

be beneficial for me as I am near to become an effective teacher.

The following are my ideas on Teaching and Learning earlier than taking the
Field Study

1. The teacher is a facilitator, coordinator; not the dispenser of knowledge.

2. To have understanding, students must be able to state and apply the concept.
3. Knowledge (mental structures and content) is varied by maturation, social interaction, and
experience.
4. Cognitive conflict can fuel the learning process. New information may fit the existing mental
structures, and the students can explain the phenomenon, OR there is a mismatch between
observations and mental structures.
5. Students should coordinate their knowledge with what they already know.
6. The main purpose of education is to develop students' ability to think critically and integrate
ideas, rather than to accumulate facts.
7. There will be no significant changes in the performance of novice physics teachers that does
not have as its center teacher attitudes.
8. Once students have learned to ask substantial questions and how to find the answers, no one
can keep them from learning all that they need to know.
9. Active criticism of new ideas is a more desirable response than passive acceptance.
10. Meaning is constructed, not prescribed.
11. Discovering knowledge is the business of students.
12. Teaching is what teachers do; learning is what students do. There may be no direct
connection between the two.
13. Students learn best when actively engaged.
14. Success is best measured in the behavioral changes of students.
15. Meaningful learning occurs when students are allowed to confront real problems, make
choices, and find solutions.

The following are my Post-ideas on Teaching and Learning after taking the Field Study

Our school community will be supported to create a learning environment that

stimulates and challenges students to achieve optimum learning. Everyone learns in

different ways and learning programs need to accommodate this and teachers and

parents are critical factors in a child’s learning success. Effective teaching is purposeful,

challenging and connected to a student’s experience, stage of development and

background.

I believe that learning happens best when student-teacher relationships are based on

mutual trust and respect. Learning occurs where student, home and school have a common

goal, interact positively and are mutually supportive. As I observed it is our duty to always make

an encouragement to our learners to be an active students and to give them an opportunity to

learn and to develop. Teachers are viewed as important agents of change in the reform effort

currently under way in education and thus are expected to play a key role in changing schools

and classrooms.

In addition, I also believe that we are the one make a change to every learners' life, we are

their second parents at school who always guide them and let them do more and achieve more

for them to become a better version of themselves that can make a better opportunity in life and

became part of the changing society to make it more crucial for learning.

I believe that as a language learner and teacher, I believe that maintaining a high level of

motivation in a language classroom is one of the best ways to make the whole process more

efficient. While students have their own reasons to learn a language, teachers play an important

role in helping the learners sustain and build on their motivation. Creative teaching involves

showing the students how the lesson topic/content relates to their own lives and the real world.

This can help them develop a greater sense of purpose. I believe that getting to truly know your

students and learning about their backgrounds can help us find the most relevant lesson ideas.

We are just an steppingstone for them to be more and to achieve more to be successful in life.

MY REFLECTION

(Teaching is like a burning torch, we need to hold it tight and lift it up to see its burning light.)

working to boost the confidence of students and direct them in the right direction.

You have to possess all the characters that a teacher must have in order to make a

change on your students’ life.

We all know that every teacher is flexible and can adapt to any changes, when we

graduate with bachelor's degree in teacher whether it is elementary level or high school

level we have the responsibility to know all the subjects even though we are graduated in

specific subject. Being a very good teacher is important where we need to possess the

knowledge, skills and abilities that teacher must have. Also, teacher must have a pure and

good heart that has care for his students. He puts lot of effort on inspiring her students

and their parents to start making changes on their way of living and how they view their

life that will begin on themselves. This observation not only inspired me but also touched

my heart in a way that we need to always remember that all students are important and

we need to have care on them. They have dreams and we are one of those millions of

people who can make their dreams come true, we are not just a teacher who will teach

them what are written on the books but also the learning from life and learning that is

written deep inside our hearts. We can also teach their parents to be brave and take care

of their Childs, we need also to change their parent’s lives because in some cases they

will learn from us and we can learn from them as well. Together with student's willingness

to learn and parent's support we can make a change and we will succeed together. As a

future educator, I always taught myself to be grateful and to assess where I could give

and provide something to my students and also to have care to them. We are their second

parents and we need to always be there for them when they need us because being a

teacher not only happens in school but you are also a teacher outside the four corners of

the classroom, outside the school/university and in any place you go. We are the role

model that they look up on to that's why we need to be a great teacher that they will follow

and a teacher who can inspire them. A role model teacher is a person who inspires one’s

ability to achieve something great. Teachers are the most influential people next to

parents in every student’s life. I realized that we as future educators we must have a full

energy and be prepared before going

or attending to class because it helps you to boost your confidence to stand in front

of your students and you will have a safe and healthy environment inside the classroom. It

is really helpful to gave questions to the students before discussion because it may help

the students to think and it will help the teacher to determine if the students already have

the idea or background knowledge about a certain topic and it will help everyone to have

an active participation in class so that all your students will focus on the discussion and

they will learn a lot from the discussions. There are times that teachers couldn't attend

class because of meetings or has import things to do and by having class officer even

though teacher is not inside the classroom the class officer will manage the class. Proper

classroom management is of great importance to the students, as it is for the teachers.

Also, teachers should know that, generally, groups function most effectively when

leadership tasks are shared among group members. They need to know how to relate to

students. We all know that teachers play an essential role in education, most especially in

the lives of the students they teach in the classroom. Generally, the role of a teacher in

education goes beyond teaching. We are living in the world of 21st century, teaching has

different faces, and a teacher has to carry out the part of being an external parent, role

model, counselor and etc. The primary role of a teacher is to deliver classroom

instructions that help students to learn. To accomplish this, teachers must prepare

affective lessons, students work and offer feedback, manage classroom materials, and to

give students a life-long learning. Students carry what they are taught at a young age

throughout the rest of their lives. They will use what they have learned to influence society.

One tool becoming more common, especially in online education, is quizzes. Giving quiz

is one of the best ways to assess if the students learn from you. These kinds of

assessment help with concentration, identify gaps in knowledge, build confidence and

help children retain information. It is very important for us as a teacher to give quizzes to

help students identify what they know and what they don’t know. Tests and quizzes have

always been a motivator to study harder when students know that their progress will be

judge based on their test scores. Well targeted, tailor-made quizzes can boost sel esteem

and confidence. When students can challenge themselves but are able to succeed, their

confidence can grow and they will be motivated to participate in class and to study hard. It

is important to have a given task because it will help us to manage our time since we will

be a future educator and as an educator we need to learn how to manage our time

because we are not only dealing with students but also with our colleagues and other

paper works. As a future educator being flexible is really important because it is one of the

ability or skill that educators must have. Effective teachers are great at being flexible,

which means that they can balance several responsibilities at once and still make

students smile and feel appreciated. The more flexible a teacher's approach, the better

they are able to adapt to the room and the higher the chances are of increased student

participation. Also, since the learning is through online we need to acknowledge those

students who are already in the Google meet because you don't waste your time waiting

for them and consume time. We need to give them appreciation such as thanking them to

be early in class so that they will do it again and they will also do it on the other subjects. It

will give them happiness and encouragement to attend the class everyday and listen to

the topics and lessons. I realized that even though the mode of learning is online and not

face-to-face classes, students always shows respect to their teacher because when they

want to go to comfort room they ask their teacher for permission and I really appreciate

those students who have respect to their teachers. Being respected by important people

in our lives growing up teaches us how to be respectful toward others. Respect means

that you accept somebody for who they are, even when they're different from you or you

don't agree with them. Respect in your relationships builds feelings of trust, safety, and

wellbeing. Having respect to your teachers is very important because we believe in a

saying that in order to be respected you need to respect others. Having respect to each

other shows that you really put your all learning in heart and not in mind.

The greatest possession of every teacher is the achievements of their students that

they cherish. Our main goal is to encourage our students to achieve as an individual in the

general society and the nation on the whole. We are not only their mentors, but we are

also adapting various roles when time rises. Over a period, we become friends when sad,

parents when hurt, and great advisers when they need. Thus, teachers are the great

mentor who impact and shapes students' life. They hold many attributes that hold a

special place in every student’s life. I want to be a teacher who have abilities, skills and

knowledge that a great teacher must have in order to teach the students and impart

knowledge on their wonderful minds. But, I also wanted to be a teacher with a heart and

care for them, who will change their lives and inspires them to be successful not for their

parents or for the others but for themselves. We need to always remember that poverty is

not a big hindrance to achieve their dreams but having lack of child support will kill their

dreams. As a role model we need to give them a hope that in every challenges that we

face and we will face someday, we need to be brave and follow the right decisions for

ourselves because someday the seeds that we plant will grow and will become a tree that

have roots of hopes, body of braveness, branches of opportunities, leaves of knowledge

and fruitful lives. For me, teaching is like a burning torch, we need to hold it tight and lift it

up to see its burning light.
