THE PROBLEM
This study is conducted to determine the differences between male and female

Ho: There is no significant relationship between male and female respondents’ attitudes
towards STEM.

The results of this study will be highly beneficial to the following entities:

Students. As the focus of this research, the findings will inform students how gender
Parents. As the primary supervisor of their children, parents will be aware of how gender

differences affect their children’s attitude towards STEM strand. Through this study, the parents

will be able to identify the different attitudes of their children towards STEM.
Teachers. The findings of this study may provide teachers with ideas on how students’
gender differences affect their attitudes towards STEM strand and identify the different attitudes

of male and female students.
Academic Leaders. The output of this study can be used as a resource by academic
leaders to put into place efficient plans for the benefit of the students. 6.7
School Guidance Counselors. The findings of this study may serve as the basis for
developing intervention programs to help male and female students assess their attitudes towards
STEM. Also, identify the different attitudes of male and female students.
Future Researchers. The generated information from this study will act as a manual or
source of information for future researchers to carry out additional studies in fields with a similar
focus.
Scope and Delimitation
7.1
This quantitative study will focus on determining the relationship between male
and female attitudes towards STEM among STEM senior high school students in University of
Cebu – Main during first semester of SY: 2022-2023. Due to the limited face to face7.2
classes, this
study will apply a stratified sampling procedure by selecting thirty (30) respondents, specifically,
fifteen (15) men and fifteen (15) women Grade 12 STEM students. Additionally, the study will
focus on male and female students’ attitudes towards STEM concerning to science, Mathematics,
Furthermore, the gender of the students will be limited only to if they are female or
male. While the male and female students’ attitudes will be measured through STEM Attitude
Scale for Secondary School Students by Benek and Ackay (2019). A 5-point Likert scale that
