TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION

PACKAGED RECIPROCATING COMPRESSOR ON HORIZONTAL RECEIVER

ALUMINIUM RANGE - MODEL BD2 / **P / 3

Main components:

Qty 1 BD60/36 bare compressor

Reciprocating compressor, air-cooled, splash lubricated, belt driven, aluminium
construction, with the following main characteristics:
 FRAME: aluminium, with separate sump plate for easy access.
 CRANKSHAFT: steel construction, integral counterweight, supported by two
heavy duty ball bearings.
 CONNECTING RODS: Aluminium construction, with Integral dipper pin for
better splash lubrication.
 CYLINDERS: Aluminium with cast iron liners for high resistance to wear,
separately cast, with radial cooling fins.
 PISTONS: Aluminium, operating in opposite phase for the best balance of
forces.
 PISTON RINGS: Two compression rings and one oil control ring for
maximum efficiency.
 VALVES: Aluminium valve plate containing stainless steel valve fingers
 LUBRICATION: The compressor is factory-filled with an SAE40 break-in oil
which should be changed at 100 hours.
We recommend the use of Ingersoll-Rand reciprocating compressor oil at
the first change out, after having changed and flushed the crankcase from
the break-in oil.
This will enable you to run 300 hours of service or 6 months between
changes.

The scope of supply also includes the following components:

 aluminium fan-type flywheel pulley;
 dry type 10 inlet filter/silencer;
 finned aluminium aftercooler.

Regulation: Automatic Start and Stop,

controlled by a pressure switch, supplied by I-R.
At the maximum required pressure the pressure switch stops the motor. When
pressure falls below minimum set value, the motor is started and the
compressor starts to work again. The pressure switch is factory set, but can be
adjusted at any required pressure (within the max. working pressure of the
compressor).
This regulation is used if the compressor works on stand-by or when air
demand is intermittent. To preserve the motor life, we recommend sizing the
compressor so that the pressure switch does not start & stop the unit more than
6 times per hour.
