Unit 061 (Power Generation)

In DSLNG the The Power Generation system Unit 061 generates the electric power
from Gas Turbine Generators 061-GTG-1001ABC, with capacity of each power
generator of 22,2 MW. There are 3 unit GTG (Alpha, Bravo and Deltha) which is 2 of 3
GTG is running and 1 is Stand-by, the GTG are controlled by load shering system
where the each GTG will be running with same load, but if the 1 of 2 GTG has a
problem and trip, the control will change to load shading and GTG stand-by will be
automatically running.
In one case all GTG (Alpha, Bravo and Deltha) have a problem or fail, Emergency
Diesel Generators 061-EDG-1001ABC will automatically running at 20 second. Where
each EDG have a capacity is 1.8 thereafore total capacity of EDG unit is 5.4 MW to
back up critical equipment.
HP fuel gas from unit 63 send to GTG to help in step combustion at 24 kg/cm2. As we
know step GTG is compression the air, combustion, and than expansion to produce
the power. And diesel oil from unit 77 to use for the EDG.

Gas Turbine Generator (GTG)

In Donggi Senoro LNG, the Ga Turbine Generator is the main power source to run all
equipment, such as Helper motor, compressor motors, heaters, pumps, control
systems and others. DSLNG has a gas turbine Generator frame 5, speed of the gas
turbine drive is 5100 rpm will be reduced to 1500 rpm by the gearbox which is
regulated by a rotation ratio of 5 : 1, with the ability to generate 22.2 MW of gas
turbine generator will produce the required power at 11 KV, 3 phase, 50 hertz.
During normal operation 2 GTG will run and 1 will standby. Gas fuel for the generator
will be supplied from high pressure gaseous fuel from unit 063 at a pressure of 23
kg/cm2 and then heated to a temperature of 85oC and then sent to the fuel gas
scrubber and into the combustion chamber through the SRV and GCV. Starter motors
are required to start the gas turbines, and the motors are connected to the
emergency power system to start the gas turbine generator during black out or initial
start-up. Each GTG has own HMI (Human Machine Interface) located in Main
Substation. In addition, one common HMI for all GTGs (061-GTG-1001A/B/C) is
provided in Main Control Room. HMIs in Main Substation can perform all controls
including GTG starting but HMI in Main Control Room can perform controls without
GTG starting. Status monitoring is possible from all HMIs.
During normal operation GTG's will be controlled in automatic mode and In manual
mode:
- automatic mode
load sharing (group control) is activated when the second and third Generators
come on line. All GTG’s are normally operated under group control and share
therefore all available load equal.
- manual mode
back up operation in Droop Mode, an GTG can be excluded from the load sharing
(group control) and then load control of this unit is totally manual from the UCP
and GCPP allowing to choose the active load point of this Generator. In manual
mode all Generators will operate in droop mode and adjustment of one GTG will
also influence the loading of other GTG’s.
The start-up of all GTG’s is done sequentially from the Generator control room in
Main substation, here's the start-up checklist GTG :

Each generator unit has a GCPP (Generator Control Protection Panel), GEP (Generator
Excitation Panel) and a UCP (Unit Control Panel) located side by side in the Generator
control room. Additionally LSP (Load Sharing Panel) for group control of parallel running
Generators to the 11 kV system is provided.
for GTG on standby, ratcething will be done for 2 hours every 2 weeks, to avoid bending
the shaft, where GTG only has 1 shaft which is different from GTC which has 2 shafts, this
is because GTG is a fix speed. where the ratcheting process is consist:
1. contact MCR to override trip/emergency signal from GTG
2. inhiebit CO2 from PROMALE
3. isolation CO2 bank A/B
4. start-up auxillary pump PM-12
5. start ratchet pump PM-15
6. chek in directly check the ratchet process in the accessories compartment at GTG,
make sure the shaft rotates 1 cycle in 3 minutes, before that select the admission
procedure on the HMI and make sure the inheabit light in the field is active.
Note :
- MOC on each GTG 061-GTG-1001 ABC, a Varnish Removal Filter is installed to reduce
the amount of varnish in the lubricating oil. where varnish is a thin deposit layer that
will not dissolve. Usually the varnish will form on the surface of the object that has
been moistened with oil first. Varnish is often found in turbine lubrication systems,
including in servo valves and bearings. The varnish removal filter works by filtering out
the varnish particles and then pumping them back into the reservoir oil.
- MOC on each 061-GTG-1001 ABC, The delay time is increased from 1 second to 3
seconds at the inlet fuel gas valve and venting fuel gas valve, to avoid GTG tripping
due to signal mismathc, where this additional delay time works to ensure the signal
will be sent to the PLC.
- MOC on each 061-GTG-1001 ABC, each GTG has a gas and flame detector
system installed on the inlet air filer and exhaust ventilation damper, where
the receiver will send a signal to the amplifier as a stabilizer signal (4-20 mA)
then sent to the SIS system, where the signal will be received via 2 card slot,
which is equipped with 1 fuse each, but with 1 fuse this is not effective,
therefore each signal from gas and flame detectors is added to each fuse so
that each detector system has an individual safety system.
Emergency Diesel Generator (EDG)
Two EDGs are required to run to support GTG activation during an emergency
or during initial startup, as a backup power supply. The generator will be
driven by a 16-cylinder RollRoys engine with a capacity of 1500 horsepower,
with a power of generated at 1.8 MW per EDG. The primary distribution
voltage must be at 11 Kv, 3 phase, 50 hertz and must be reduced to 6.9 kV and
400V in the substation unit building, which is supplied via emergency
switchgear 06-SWG-1191. in the event of an emergency case or GTG's is trip,
within 20 seconds the EDG will auto run if it is put in auto mode, where the
EDG is equipped with a power starter motor using a battery that will always be
charged when the EDG is running.
Start-up EDG
1. Select manual/ local at HMI
2. Push start botton at HMI
3. Close breaker ( automatically load 30%)
4. To increase load
- Select set-up
- Select SYST
- Select Mains ( password 20**)
- Then change load EDG 30% to 50 % to 75%
- End save
before start- EDG must be equipped with permissive start, namely:
- oil reservoir level OK
- coolant level OK
- pre heater ON
- ex heater ON
NORMAL battery
- fuel level OK
- Close the heatit CO2 system
Uninterruptible Power Supply
At the Donggi Senoro Power Plant there is an Uninterruptible Power Supply to
support or as a back-up in the event of a total blackout. The UPS system charger and
inverter will receive power from the emergency power in the MCC and the UPS
bypass circuit from the normal Motor Control Center. The UPS system will provide 30
systems that will provide power for the DCS, Safety Instrument System,
Telecommunication and other critical loads, as shown in the following table:
Input parameter (50 Hz)

Power Distribution System

GTG power is distributed from the 11kV switchgear (060-SWG-1001) to 6.9kV
switchgear (060-SWG-1101) in main substation and 6.9kV switchgear (091-SWG-1101)
in unit substation, through step-down transformers. The 6.9kV switchgears (060/091-
SWG-1101) consist of double incomings and one bus tie breakers with secondary
selective function. The 6.9kV switchgears (060/091-SWG-1101) are connected to low
voltage switchgears through step-down transformers. The low voltage switchgears for
Utility and Process service located at main and unit substations consist of double
incomings and one bus tie breakers with secondary selective function. The low voltage
switchgears located at administration and maintenance workshop substations consist
of an incoming breaker and single bus (radial feeding system).if 1 of 2 GTG trips, then
the PLC will automatically change to load shading, where the BOG compressor and
GTC 1 helpermotor will trip to avoid GTG overload and feed gas or production will be
reduced.
