DO NOT USE THIS WS FOR SUBSEA APPLICATIONS UNDER CATHODIC PROTECTION

WELDING SPECIFICATION FOR STRUCTURAL NON-NACE WELDING OF ASME SECTION IX, P-1 GR. 1 OR 2
CARBON STEEL TO THEMSELVES OR EACH OTHER OR TO P-1 OR GR. 3 OR 4 CARBON STEEL
NO POST WELD HEAT TREATMENT
MEETS ASME SECTION IX OR ISO 15614-1
LOW TEMPERATURE IMPACTS DO NOT APPLY
API 6D / ISO 14313

NOTE: This WS is not intended for subsea service under cathodic protection, because the PQRs supporting this
WS do not always have hardness traverses to prove the weldment meets the 35 HRC / 350 HV10 maximum
hardness requirements of DNV-RP-B401.
Optional WSs that can be used for subsea applications include:
• WS-000628 (30K)
• WS-000629 (50K)
• WS-000630 (30K-50K)
• X-027224 & WS-000754, WS-000755, WS-000756(X-027224 is normally used for major structural frames).

BASE MATERIALS
1.1 Materials conforming to:
ASME Section IX, P-1 Gr. 1 or 2 Carbon Steel welded to themselves or each other or welded to P-1 Gr. 3 or
4
1.2 Requirements of base materials, such as tensile and yield strength minimums, or hardness ranges, shall
also apply to welds.
POST WELD HEAT TREATMENT
2.1 No Post Weld Heat Treatment is allowed under this specification.
ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS
3.1 This document is not intended as a guideline for welders. The Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) gives
specific parameters for fabrication. A system for linking approved WSs and WPSs must be implemented.
This should be achieved via an accessible document such as a cross-reference list, weld map, or WS/WPS
numbering convention that links them by number, per Appendix A of WS-000100.
3.2 Refer to:
WS-000100 Usage of Welding Procedures
WS-000101 Welding Procedure Qualification
WS-000102 Welding Performance Qualification
WS-000103 Control of Welding Consumables
WS-000104 General Welding Practices
WS-000105 Preheat/Interpass Temperatures & Post Weld Stress Relief Operations
