CSC Detailed Application Guide
This guide is for students applying for the Chinese Government Scholarship through the
university i.e.: CSC type B.
The eligible majors listed in this guide are according to the previous year's notice of approval
from China Scholarship Council, these may be subject to changes and therefore your
encouraged to check the website for the most up to date accepted programs around June each
year.
Application deadlines
The application deadlines indicated below are for all applications to China University of
Petroleum-Beijing and also apply to the scholarship programs listed below. However,
scholarship applicants are advised to submit their applications very early to avoid any last-
minute panic due to missing documents and also to give you ample time to prepare a very
strong application.
Chinese Language Program: June 30th

Bachelor’s Program: June 15th
Masters & Ph.D. Program: May 30th
Available Scholarship Programs
China university of petroleum- Beijing CSC programs include the following:
1. Chinese Government Scholarship, ‘Silk Road’ program

Eligibility Criteria:
 Applicants must be nationals of countries that belong to the ‘One Belt One Road’
initiative:
 Bachelor’s applicants should have a minimum Chinese Proficiency of HSK 3(180)
to be eligible to apply, Master’s and Ph.D. applicants for Chinese taught
programs must have at least HSK 4 (180) to be eligible to apply, those with the
minimum required Chinese language proficiency but do not meet language
requirements for direct major entry will be given one-year Chinese Language
study.
 The requirement to go directly into major study without Chinese Language
study is HSK 4(222) for Bachelor students
 The requirement to go directly into major study without Chinese Language
study is for Chinese taught masters and Ph.D. studies is HSK 5(180)
 Masters and Ph.D. applicants for English taught programs must have at least
IELTS 6.5, TOEFL 80 or an official letter from their former university indicating
English as the teaching language if they had their previous study conducted in
English for at least 2 years.

2. Chinese Government scholarship through Chinese Universities-Postgraduate Program

 This program is open to all nationalities
 Applicants must be applying for the Masters or Ph.D. level
 Applicants must not have finished their previous study within China or it has
been at least a year since they completed their previous study if it was
completed in China.
 Master’s and Ph.D. applicants for Chinese taught programs must have HSK
5(180) to apply directly for major study, otherwise they will be required to do
one year of Chinese language study
 Masters and Ph.D. applicants for English taught programs must have at least
IELTS 6.5, TOEFL 80 or an official letter from their former university indicating
English as the teaching language if they had their previous study conducted in
English for at least 2 years.

3. China Government Scholarship Shanghai Cooperation Organization University

Program
 This program is open to applicants from partner universities that also belong to
the Shanghai Cooperation Organization University
 The scholarship supports exchange study at CUP for either a semester or an
academic year.

Online Application Guide
(Notice: When you apply in CSC online application please make sure that you enter the right
Agency No. of China university of petroleum (Beijing), which is: 11414，type B)
1. To apply for scholarship in CUPB first open CUPB application portal and Choose Online
application. ( https://admission.cup.edu.cn/ )
There will be 3 main steps for you to complete the online application:
1： Fill in the online application form
2： Upload the required application materials
3： Submit your application to CUP
2. After you register and login,
1- Select your required application level (General visiting student, Bachelors, Masters or Ph.D.).
2-Desired language of instruction (Chinese or English).
3-Then select the required course you want to apply for by clicking Apply now.
3. Fill in the required information and click save and next.
4.Choose research direction, then choose the College or School (Postgraduate students only:
MSc & Ph.D.).
Choose your supervisor: (Mandatory for Ph.D. students and optional for Masters students
masters students are highly encouraged to have supervisors.)
Students can select a supervisor who has already accepted to take them on as a student or
one they wish to work with.
5. Upload the required documents (documents marked with a red asterisk (*) are
compulsory
6. Scholarship Selecting Part

Choose the scholarship you are interested in, please make sure you fulfill all the
eligibility criteria otherwise you have no chance of getting the scholarship.
7. To complete submitting your application please pay application fee which is 400 yuan.
8. Click next and submit the application form.

During the CSC system application please take note of
the following
After submitting the application please go to the CSC website and fill in the application on the
CSC system too.
CSC application website: https://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/#/login
Input the correct Agency Number. which is: 11414 for China University of Petroleum, Beijing.
Program Category and Agency Number are directly matched, both are mandatory for online
application.
Step 1: Input Application Information.
Step 2: Move on to the section of “Language Proficiency and Study Plan” and upload
“Supporting Documents” as requested, then click “Submit” to complete the application.
Step 3: Check each part of your application carefully before submission. Please make sure that
all the information and uploaded documents are valid and accurate.
Step 4: With any inquiry concerning the available majors of our university, please see the
attached list.
Step 5: Once submitted, amendment cannot be made on “Personal Details” and “Application
Information”. Before the application being processed by the processing authorities, applicant
can revoke the submitted application by clicking “Withdraw” and edit the application.
Step 6: After revoking the application, applicant must submit again after re-editing, or the
application will not be processed. Once the application is processed, application cannot be
revoked.
