Addition Postulate. First, STOP. Stop everything that you are doing that
is not related to our subject.

Second, LOOK. Look at the board, at the visual aid

or at anything that may help you understand our
topic for today.

Lastly, LISTEN. Listen to me, to your classmates or

to anyone who is expressing their thoughts that may
help everyone understand our topic.

c. Checking of attendance
(Students will be asked who are absents.)

d. Kamustahan
(The teacher will ask the students the things they did
during weekends)
A. Recall

The students are expected to recall about the subsets

of a line, the symbols used for naming the different
types of lines and its relationships.

B. Motivation
Activity: It looks like…
Methodology:
1. Show the following figures to the class. Do not
label the angles.

2. 2. Ask the students to think of objects in their

surroundings that resemble one of the angles shown.
3. Call students to give an example.
C. Discussion
• Angle – a geometric figure formed by joining two
rays at their endpoints

The point where the rays meet is called the vertex,

and the rays making up the angle are called the
sides.
Example:
• Naming an angle To name an angle, we either use
its vertex or its three points; the symbol ∠ is used to
denote an angle.

To name an angle using three points, the first letter

of the angle should be a point on one of its sides, the
middle letter is its vertex, and the last letter is also a
point on the other side.

• Angle measurement – the rotation or opening

between the sides of an angle; degrees and radians
are the most commonly used units for angle
measurement.

• Acute angle – an angle whose measure is less than

90°
• Right angle – an angle whose measure is exactly
90°
• Obtuse angle – an angle whose measure is more
than 90° but less than 180°
• Straight angle – an angle whose measure is exactly
180°
• Reflex angle – an angle whose measure is more
than 180° but less than 360°
• Angle Addition Postulate – states that when two
angles are placed side by side, their measures may
be added to form a bigger angle

For this postulate to apply, it is a must that the

vertices of the individual angles must be the same,
and they must share a common side.

• Angle bisector – a line, a line segment, or a ray

that bisects or divides an angle into two equal parts.

D. Developing Mastery
Example 1:
Classify the angle below.

A farmer plowed his rectangular rice field,

represented by the figure below. Classify the angles
represented by ∠1, ∠2, ∠3, ∠4, ∠5, ∠6, ∠7, and ∠8.
Solution: ∠1, ∠2, ∠3, and ∠4 have measures of
exactly 90°. Thus, they are right angles.

The rest of the angles, namely, ∠5, ∠6, ∠7, and ∠8,
have measures greater than 180°. Thus, they are
reflex angles.
E. Application
1. Given 𝑚∠𝑂𝑁𝑃 = 42° and 𝑚∠𝑀𝑁𝑃 = 105°, find
𝑚∠𝑀𝑁𝑂. Refer to the figure below

2. What kind of angle is shown below?

3. In the figure below, ⃗𝐴𝐸 bisects ∠𝐷𝐴𝐹. Find

𝑚∠𝐷𝐴𝐹 given that 𝑚∠𝐷𝐴𝐸 = 75°.
