COURSE OBJECTIVES:

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
 To develop an understanding of the advanced building services such as Air conditioning and
Plumbing and their application in the design proposals of buildings of slight complex nature such
as multistoried.

Unit-1 WATER SUPPLY AND DRAINAGE
Water supply 25%
Hot and cold water supply system, types and sizes; water supply fitting to bathrooms,
Water closet, sinks, bathtubs, washbasins, bidets, showers, urinals etc.
Drainage
Principles of drainage, material for drains, traps – their types, function and uses. Shapes
and sizes of pipes for drainage system, sanitary fixture- W.C., Wash basins, bathtubs,
sinks – their types, sizes, Septic tank – types, sizes etc. Simple exercises on preparation of
layout plans for toilet, kitchen (both public and residential)
Unit-II LIGHTING AND OTHER ELECTRICAL PLANS 25%
Different system of lighting-both natural and artificial, preparing and planning of
electrical layout for different areas alongwith various communication equipment by
symbolic representation and selection of matching fittings for different work
areas, matching light with site such as drawing room, bedroom, study: bath,
kitchen etc., and public places like offices including basic knowledge of materials,
finishes and maintenance, units for measuring lights.
Unit-III AIR CONDITIONING AND VENTILATION 25%

SUMMER INTERNSHIP Annexure: I

*Compulsory Two weeks summer internship after 4th Semester

 The students of Diploma in Architecture & interior Design Summer training comprising of
industrial hands on experience for fulfilment AICTE requirement after the end of 4 th semester.

 The Committee /TPO, University Polytechnic will issue the list of students who have completed
the training and each students would be required to submit a certificate of completion of training
by respective industry .

 The evaluation will be done and grades would be awarded as per AICTE norms and no credits
will be given in the mark-sheet.

Upper Floors: R.C.C., R.B., Filler joist, flag stone and timber floors.
Roofs an Trusses : Purpose of roof, Brief description of different types of roofs
and trusses.

Unit-II : Partitions and wall paneling. Methods and construction technology of wall paneling, 25%
cladding, full and low height partitions, false ceilings, railings, brick jails, honey
combing etc.

Unit-III Definition and types of staircases as per nomenclature. Staircase of different materials. Drawing 25%

COURSE OBJECTIVES

COURSE OBJECTIVES
