I. OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the 60-minute session, the students should be able to:

a. Explain the four kinds of sentences according to function through a graphic organizer.
b. Construct declarative, interrogative, exclamatory, and imperative sentences with
proper usage of punctuations.
c. Appreciate the kinds of sentences according to function in daily conversations.

II. SUBJECT MATTER:

Teacher-made visuals, video clip, pictures, laptop

● TIME ALLOTMENT:
One hour (Sixty Minutes)

Comprehension, Oral Fluency, Vocabulary Development, and Grammar Awareness

III. PROCEDURES:

A. Preliminary Activities

1. Prayer: The teacher will play a video prayer.

2. Greetings: The teacher will greet the students and ask them questions like, “how
are you doing today?”.

3. Checking of Attendance: The teacher will take a screenshot of the platform


(Google Meet) as it will serve as their attendance.

4. Recap / Review: Grammar


To make sure that the class is ready for the next topic, the
teacher will ask questions about the previous one. This will determine if the students
could retain the information that they learned.

Previous lesson: Sentences

5. Motivation
● The teacher will show pictures using the Canva presentation.
● Then, the teacher will give students ample time to observe the picture
and ask the learners about their interpretation of the picture presented.
● Next, the teacher will give some hypothetical scenarios for each
picture, and the students are required to state their answers based on
the given situation.

Situation # 1:

The teacher will present a picture of the solar system.


Ask the students to make a factual statement about it. The
teacher will give an example.

Situation # 2:

The teacher will present the second picture. The situation


is that you saved up some money to buy a pair of shoes.
You saw a pair of shoes in black but you wanted them in
blue. How are you going to ask the sales lady about the
shoes that you want in the color blue and if it’s available
in your size?

Situation # 3: Your team won in the spelling quiz bee.


What will be your reaction?

Situation # 4:

It is bedtime. How are you going to instruct your


younger sibling to do the usual stuff before going to
bed? (drink their milk, brush their teeth, wash their face,
wash their feet)
6. Discussion/ Lesson Proper:
● The teacher will present the topic, Four Kinds of Sentence According to Function
through Canva Presentation, and will provide their definitions, important terms,
details, and examples related to the topic.
● The teacher will discuss and explain each kind of sentence according to functions
through the provided definition, important details, and examples of each kind of
sentence according to functions.
● The teacher will call random students to answer the questions about the topic and will
give their own examples in each kind of sentence according to functions for students
to have active participation in the class.

7. Generalization:

● At the end of the discussion, the teacher will present the four kinds of sentences with
their proper punctuation.
● The teacher will ask the learners to type in the in-call messages button or comment
section the definition of each kind of sentence through their own words.
● The teacher will ask one student, per kind of sentence according to functions, to state
their answers or given definitions.

8. Application:
● The students are required to construct three sentences for each kind of sentence
according to functions with the appropriate usage of punctuation marks.

IV. EVALUATION
● The students will explain the four kinds of sentences according to function using a
graphic organizer.
● The students may utilize the readily available templates of graphic organizers on the
internet however, they need to use proper citations to the website to avoid plagiarism.

V. ASSIGNMENT
● Ask the students to read about sentences according to structure.
