This chapter contains the following sections:

Overview
HVMV is a professional video surveillance system designed for 30 series NVR on managing
security surveillance devices conveniently and efficiently. It supports live view, playback, tour
& task, E-Map, Event trigger management, smart search and other services. The main
features of HVMV are listed as below:
• View real-time video of multiple camera channels.
• Auto Streaming Size for Clients, saving decode and streaming bandwidth.
• Supports various view settings: time, bandwidth, codec, etc.
• Customized layouts can also be displayed on standalone player.
• View the playback video files from various cameras and synchronized playback.
• Multiple monitors configurable to display live view, tour, E-map or event views.
• Manually export event clips.
• Smart search.
• Support multiple scheduled events to realize auto surveillance.
• Support E-Map: clearly view and manage all devices at different locations.
• Multiple Fisheye Dewarping modes.
• Customizable layouts for unique camera types, e.g., corridor or panoramic.

Install HVMV

2 Install HVMV
1. Download the latest version of HVMV installation program from
https://mywebtech.honeywell.com.

2. Double click the installation program and the following window is displayed.

3. Click I agree and the following window is displayed:

4. Enter the user name, password and confirm password. Click Next.

5. Leave the port as default and modify the default database path if necessary. Click Next.

Login Interface

Double click the HVMV icon on the desktop, and the login interface is displayed:

For the first time logging in, use the admin account and enter the password you set in Install
HVMV on page 3.
You can create other accounts as described in User on page 8 and log in with other accounts.

You can add, modify and delete users and set user’s authorities.

Click on the Settings pane in Figure 3-2 to go to the following interface:

Enter the user name, password, confirm password and select a role from Administrator and
Customize.

Type Description
An administrator has all permissions and is allowed to access all
Administrator devices.
A customized user has customized permissions and is allowed to
access customized devices. To create users with the permissions
Customize for different operational capabilities, select Customize in the
Role menu, and then select the options in the Permissions
and/or the Accessible devices menus.

In the Permissions tab, click to unfold the Configuration and Operation menus. Select or
deselect the checkboxes to configure the user privileges. For example, you may not want a
user to operate Event and E-Map, deselect these checkboxes.

In the Accessible devices tab, click to select the cameras that a user can access. Some users
may only need to access specific devices.

After the settings are done, click Add to create a new user.

The new users will be listed under the admin’s icon . Repeat the process to create more
users.

If you want to change the password, click Change password.

Devices
You can add a single device or a batch of devices automatically or manually.

Adding a Device

You can add new devices via:


• P2P
• IP/Domain
• Auto search

Click on the Settings pane in Figure 3-2 to go to the following interface:

Adding New Device via P2P

1. Click as shown in Figure 3-10 and the following interface is displayed:

2. Enter the serial number and the admin user’s password of NVR. Click Add and the devices
will be added in the devices list in the left pane, see Figure 3-16.

Adding Devices via IP/Domain

1. Click as shown in Figure 3-10 and the following interface is displayed:

2. Enter the IP/Domain name and the password of NVR. Click Add and the devices will be
added in the devices list in the left pane, see Figure 3-16.

Adding Devices via Auto Search

1. Click as shown in Figure 3-10 , the system will search the devices in the same
network segment. After the search is completed, the following interface is displayed:

You need to authorize the devices first. Before the

3. Enter the admin user’s password of the device and click Authorize.

4. The device will be unlocked and the status of the device will change to . Click Apply
and the device will be added to the devices list in the left pane.

If your devices cannot be added via auto search, perform the following steps:
1. Go to Control PanelAll Control Panel ItemsWindows Defender Firewall.
2. Click Allow an app or feature through Windows Defender Firewall.

4. Click Browse, go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Honeywell\HVMV\Server and add


Configuration Server in the Apps list.

5. Enable Domain, Private and Public in the Allowed apps and features list.

6. Click OK. After the settings are completed, click as shown in Figure 3-10 to
search the devices automatically.

Modifying a Device

• In Figure 3-16, change the name of the device in the Name field.
• Right click the device that you want to modify and select Rename.

• Click to make more settings on the web client of the NVR.

Deleting a Device

• In Figure 3-16, right click the device that you want to modify and select Delete.

• Select a device in the devices list, click as shown in Figure 3-16.

Event Configuration
You can pre-configure a series of actions for HVMV to react to different events. For example,
HVMV can start a recording or send an Email notification when Motion detection is triggered.

Adding an Event

Click on the Settings pane in Figure 3-2 to go to the following interface:

Perform the following steps to add an event as shown in the above figure:
1. Select an event type among

• Camera event , see Camera Event on page 20.

• System event , see System Event on page 21.

• External device event , see External Device Event on page 22.


2. Click Add trigger to select trigger and source. After it is completed, click Add.
3. Click Add action to select a corresponding action, such as sending HTTPS request,
sending live streaming, sending an Email, going to camera preset, going to E-Map or
sounding the event. For details, see Adding Action on page 23. After it is completed, click
Add.
4. Configure a schedule during which the event configuration will take effect.
• If no special time is needed, you can simply select Always.
• To configure a schedule, click Customize. For details, see Add a Schedule on page 26.
5. Enter a name for your event, and add description for your configuration, e.g., "motion
detected on the front door." Click Add and the event configuration will be listed as shown
in the following figure.

Selecting Event and Trigger

Camera Event

Click and click Add Trigger as shown in Figure 3-22, the following figure is displayed:

Some of the triggers require that you configure the settings on


the web page of NVR or local NVR. For example, the motion

detection windows have to be manually configured on each
camera before they can be configured in the Event settings.

An event prompt will pop up on the screen when a triggering condition is met. For example, a
motion is detected, the sample prompt is shown below. The related video can be played back
by clicking on the video on the event prompt.

System Event

Click and click Add Trigger as shown in Figure 3-22, the following figure is displayed:

Adding Action
The available actions include: sending HTTPS request, sending live streaming, sending an
Email, going to camera preset, going to E-Map and sounding the event.

Send Live Streaming

The action brings up a video prompt on the live view, showing the real-time video feed from a
selected camera.

Perform the following steps to add the Send live streaming action.
1. Select Send live streaming from the dropdown list.
2. Select target camera (s).
3. Click Add.

Send an Email

The action sends an Email to the specified recipient(s).

Perform the following steps to add the Send Email action.


1. Select Send email from the dropdown list.
2. Enter valid email addresses as sender and recipients. It is required that you configure an
SMTP server first for mail delivery, see SMTP on page 36.

3. Enter subject and contents. Click to add Device name, Trigger type, Event time,
Storage path, Station name, or Data source in the Email to inform the recipient.

4. If you want to receive a snapshot of the event, select the checkbox of Snapshot image.
Click Select Cameras to select cameras which will take the snapshot.
5. Click Add.

Go to E-Map

The action opens a pre-configured E-Map of where the triggering condition occurs. The user
can then click on the camera icon on the E-Map for an instant viewing.

Perform the following steps to add the Go to E-map action.


1. Select Go to E-map from the dropdown list of actions.
2. Select the target map from the dropdown list of maps.
3. Select cameras to show live streaming on E-map when event occurs.

Sound the Event

This function should be used in conjunction with NVR's Send to HVMV. Create an event
action on NVR and select Send to HVMV. Create an event action on HVMV and selects Sound
the Event. The HVMV sounds alarm when the event is triggered.
The action provides 5 alarm sounds that will be sounded on the HVMV client. Your HVMV
client should have speakers for playing the audible alarm.

Perform the following steps to add the Sound the event action.
1. Select Sound the event from the dropdown list.
2. Select an event sound from Alarm 1, Alarm 2, Alarm 3, Alarm 4 or Alarm 5.
3. Click Add.

Add a Schedule
You can customize a schedule or add a schedule template to specify a time for the event.

Customizing Schedule

Click Customize as shown in Figure 3-22. Drag a time period as shown in yellow and click
Apply. The minimum unit of the time period is half an hour.

• You can click Save as a template and enter the schedule name to save the schedule as a
template. The schedule template will be listed as shown in the following figure:

• To delete the time period, right-click the time period and select Clear or Clear all.

Adding a Schedule Template

Click Add a schedule as shown in Figure 3-22.

Enter a template name, drag the time period and click Add. The schedule template will be
listed as shown in Figure 3-34.

Modifying an Event

Select the target event, click and you can modify the trigger, action, schedule, event name
and notes. For details, see Adding an Event on page 18.

Deleting an Event

E-Map Config
You can import an E-Map or an E-Map folder, deploy cameras, maps and alarm in/out
devices on the map to show the deployment of surveillance devices and alarm in/out devices
in an area.

Adding E-Map

Click on the Settings pane in Figure 3-2 to go to the following interface:

Perform the following steps to configure the E-Map.


1. Import a map or a map folder.

• Click to import a map folder or click to import a map.

2. Double-click an E-Map image to configure the E-Map. Your cameras, regional maps and
alarm in/out devices will be listed on the left.

3. Drag the cameras, E-Maps or Alarm in/out devices to the target locations on the map. See
Deploying Cameras on E-Map on page 29, Deploying Regional Maps on E-Map on page
31, Deploying Alarm In/out Devices on E-Map on page 31.
4. Click Done.

Modifying E-Map

Deploying Cameras on E-Map


Cameras can be deployed into an E-Map.
As shown in Figure 3-38, drag cameras from the Sources list to the target location on E-Map
and the following figure is displayed.

When the camera is in place, drag the FOV indicators on the edge to change the shooting
angle and the coverage range.

Drag the FOV to change the shooting direction to match the actual installation.

Click on the camera icon, you can also change the color of camera icon and the FOV type.
Fisheye cameras, when ceiling mounted, have a round shape coverage.

To delete the camera on the map, click on the target camera icon.

Deploying Regional Maps on E-Map


Regional maps can also be deployed into an E-Map.
As shown in Figure 3-38, drag a map from the Regional maps list to the target location on E-
Map and the following figure is displayed.

You can change the color of map icon. Double click the map icon, you can go to the map
configuration page to deploy cameras, maps and alarm in/out devices on the map.

To delete the regional map on the map, click on the target map icon.

Deploying Alarm In/out Devices on E-Map


Alarm In/out devices can also be deployed into an E-Map, such as alarm or various kinds of
detectors.
1. Select a map from the pull-down menu on the left pane.

2. In the Alarm In/Alarm out tab, drag an alarm in/out device to a preferred location on map.
You can use or to zoom in or zoom out the map.
3. When an alarm in/out device is selected, you can select the display colors of its icons.
Configure different colors for the device status when it is normal or triggered.

4. When all alarm in/out devices are deployed, click Done on the lower right of the screen.

To delete the alarm in / alarm out devices on the map, click on the target alarm in / alarm
out device icon.

Tour & Task


You can configure a tour & task to display multiple pre-configured views one by one in a timed
pattern and monitor tour among different windows. For how to configure a view, see
Configuring Views on page 47.

To configure a tour & task, click on the Settings pane in Figure 3-2 to go to the
following interface:

Adding a Tour

1. Click and the following interface is displayed:

2. Enter a name for the tour.

3. Click target views from the View tab and the views will be added to the tour. Click Add tour.

The default for the duration of the disaplay of each view is 5 seconds. You can right-click
on each view to display the Duration of each view.

You can apply the same duration of all views, or allow each view to display on screen for a
different span of time.

After the tour is added, mouse over a configured tour, and then click to start a tour.

To stop the tour, left-click or right-click on the screen.

Modifying a Tour

To modify a tour, right click the tour and select Edit.

Then you can add or delete views, modify the name of the tour, change the duration, etc. After
it is completed, click Apply.

Deleting a Tour

To delete a tour, right click the tour and select Delete as shown in Figure 3-54.

System Management
You can set up SMTP and Preferences here.

SMTP

You can configure a mail server via which the system alarms or notifications can be delivered
to a receiver.

Click on the main interface in Figure 3-2 to go to the following interface:

Click to add an SMTP server.

Enter your mail server's domain name or IP address. Enter credentials for access to the mail
service.
If SSL encrypted transmission is preferred, select its checkbox.
Click Add to complete the configuration.

The system uses the first SMTP server by default. If the first
Note SMTP server is failed, it will use the second one, and so on in a
similar fashion.

Preferences

You can configure language, downloads path, on startup settings, event and log preferences.

Language
Select a language from the dropdown list.

Export

Location: Configure a default destination for exporting video, snapshots, or configuration


backups. The default location is:
"C:/Users/Public/Documents/Honeywell Inc/HVMV/Downloads".
Snapshot format: Select from JPG or PNG.

On Startup
You can use multiple monitor screens to display Live view, Tour & Task, E-Map, or Event
prompts. The precondition is that you should configure one or many views before making the
Startup configuration. Below is a server/client with dual monitors, you can select one view to
be displayed on one monitor, or display a tour on another.

Event
Reserve Time: Configure the preservation time of the events and logs. Configuring a
preservation time can help reduce the use of storage space on server.

Log
Configure the preservation time of the Major or Normal logs.

Log level: Select a log level. It will save the logs of and above the selected log level.
Reserve time: Configure the preservation time of the logs.
After all of the above settings are completed, click Apply for the configuration to take effect.

Import and Export Utility


HVMV supports import and export utility for user to keep record of all server settings. You can
use the export file to copy the configuration on another host.

When exporting or importing the server settings, it will stop the

Export Utility

Perform the following steps to export the server settings:


1. Under the Microsoft Windows Start menu, navigate to Honeywell HVMV  Import-
Export Utility.

2. The Import/Export Utility window will pop up as shown in the following figure:

3. Select Export current settings, click to select a target folder, and click Next. The
system will start to export a .bin file.

4. After the exporting is completed, click Close.

Import Utility

Perform the following steps to import the server settings:


1. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 of Export Utility on page 39.

2. Select Import previous settings, click to select a file to be imported and select the
checkbox of Restore or Copy settings.
Restore: If this is selected, the VAST server GUID will also be restored. This option applies
when you need to restore as crashed server.

Copy Settings: You can use the exported profile to duplicate your configuration to
multiple computers. A new server GUID will be generated.

3. Click Next. After the importing is completed, click Close.

HVMV Service Control Tool


HVMV service control tool is a tool for server control and for user to be aware of the HVMV
Server status. It starts up as Windows OS startup.
Under the Microsoft Windows Start menu, navigate to Honeywell HVMV  Service Control.
You may also find it in the system tray icon of the tool bar, which indicates that the service is

running: .

It shows a disconnection icon when the service is stopped: .


A menu for the service control tool will pop up when you right-click on the icon:

Live Viewing

After devices are added, you can check the live view from the connected devices and modify
the video settings.

Click on the Operation pane in Figure 3-2 to go to the following interface:

Perform the following steps to set a layout and view live view in the selected layout:

1. Click to select a layout.


The available layouts are categorized into 4 types: Equal, Panorama, Focus, and Vertical.
Equal: 1x1, 2x2, 3x3, 4x4, 5x5, 6x6, 7x7, 8x8.
Panorama: 1P(Panoramic)+6, 2P, 2P+3, 3P. (applies to fisheye cameras)

Focus: 1+12, 1+16, 1+3, 1+5, 1+7, 1+9, 2+8.


Vertical: 1V+6, 2V+2, 2V+3, 3V, 3V+4, 4V, 4V+4, 5V. (applies to corridor view)
2. Select a window and double click a camera on the left pane or drag it to the window to
view the video.

If your cameras support the Two Way Audio feature and


the microphone and audio output to an amplified
speakers have been connected, you can right-click on
the camera to display the Broadcast function. Click on
Broadcast the Microphone icon in the middle to start speaking.
Click again to stop the Two Way Audio.
Note that the Broadcast option only appears when you
select a camera that supports the Two Way Audio
feature.

Click to add the current layout as a new layout. The new

Click Digital Zoom to enable the digital zoom operation in a view. The zoom area shows the

• To move to a different area you want to magnify, drag the zoom area.
• To zoom the image, scroll the mouse wheel or click the zoom buttons.

Editing Display Information

Select Display Information as shown in Figure 4-4 and select Edit display information in the
sub menu. Select the checkboxes to determine what kind of text overlay will be displayed on
view cells. Note that you can place the overlay either on top or at the lower of the screen. Click
and drag an overlay item to a preferred location. After it is completed, click Apply.
You can apply your current configuration to all view cells by selecting the Apply to all view
cells checkbox.

Broadcast (Reserved)

If your cameras support the Two Way Audio feature and the microphone and audio output to

Configuring Views
You can save a view with a certain layout.

1. Click as shown in Figure 4-1 to select the window layout.


2. Drag camera(s) or map on the left pane to the video window.

To delete a view, right-click the target view and select Delete.

E-Map Viewing
You can also drag an E-Map into a view window. Click on the E-Map tab as shown in Figure
4-1. Note that an E-Map should be placed into a larger view cell.
Depending on the resolution of your monitor, a view window can be too small for an E-Map.
For example, for an HD monitor (1920x1080), a single view window from a 3x3 layout will
have a resolution of 640x360. View windows larger than 330 (width) x 300 (height) pixels can
contain an E-Map.

Alarm in / Alarm out


In this tab, you can view the status of alarm in / alarm out devices connected to the NVR.
• If the icon is in grey, it means the alarm in device is offline and the alarm out device is not
triggered.
• If the icon is in blue, it means the alarm in device is online and the alarm out device is
triggered. You can turn off the alarm by clicking the icon.

5 Playback

You can playback the recordings that stored in the devices and export them to local
computer.

Click on the Operation pane in Figure 3-2 to go to the following interface:

Time Search

Click on the current date to open a calendar. If you want to review videos recorded in another
day, select it from the calendar.

Orange bottom line: Today.
White: dates with no recordings.
Click on the current time on the timeline. You can use the arrow buttons to change the time
you wish to playback, or simply enter a specified number. You can also drag the time indicator
along the timeline.

Time Indicator

It shows the current playback time. You can drag the time indicator along the timeline.

Synchronous Playback

Click to play back video of all cameras in the same view at the same time. It is
recommended you create a 2x2 layout, select and insert camera views into it, and begin the
Synchronous playback.

Playback Control Button

/ : Click to play backward/forward the video frames.

/ : Click to view the video in the reverse/forward playback manner.

Speed Control

The selectable speed ranges from 1/64x to 64x. When you play back videos at a speed above
16x , it will play back the video at an interval of 10s.

Export Clips

Click as shown in Figure 5-2, a range selector will appear. Drag the ends to set the time

period you want to export. After it is completed, click to export the clip.

Events Color Indicator

It indicates the color of each type of events. The corresponding color of each type of event will

Timescale Control

The default timescale is 12 mins. You can change the scale for easier browsing. Click the
Zoom in and Zoom out buttons to change the timescale. The following timescales are
available: 3 days, 1 day, 12 hr, 6 hr, 3 hr, 1 hr, 12 mins and 1 min.

Searching Events

Click on the Search pane in Figure 3-2 to go to the following interface:

Before searching, you can use the following filtering tool to narrow down your search:

• Time Frame: Click to specify the time frame you want to search for events.
• Trigger by: Select event triggers from All triggers, Camera, System/Site or External
devices.

• Status: Select event status from All status, New, In progress, False event or Close.
• Search Criteria: Enter a keyword in the Search Criteria field to search the event by name
or trigger source. Click to add a criteria or click to remove a criteria.

Exporting Events

As shown in Figure 7-2, you can click to export a full list of all triggered events into a CSV
file.

Smart Search
The Smart search function enables a quick glimpse of activities occurred within a user
configurable detection area from the recorded videos.

Click on the Search pane in Figure 3-2 to go to the following interface:

Before searching, you can use the following filtering tool to narrow down your search:

• Time frame: Click to specify the time frame you want to search for events.
• Sensitivity: Configure the sensitivity for the detection of the activities in scene. Low for
near scene, high sensitivity for long distance scenes.
• Continuous detection for exclusion: If the detected motion persists for longer than the
time threshold, the motion will be counted as a detection result.
• Intervals between search results: The intervals for defining and revealing the detection
search results.
Perform the following steps to execute the smart search:
1. Draw a polygon with multiple mouse clicks to set areas where activities of your interest
occurred. Double-click to close a polygon.

4. If you find important events, use the Export function to mark the start and end points on
the timeline to export a video clip. Use the ends on time line to determine the clip length.
By default, the clip length is 2 minutes long. The playback control panel in the Smart
search window is identical to that on the Playback window.

E-Map View

Click on the Settings pane in Figure 3-2 to go to the following interface:

Double-click the target map to view the map.

To zoom in or zoom out the map, click or scroll the mouse forward or backward.

You can use the tilt bar on the right to tilt the E-Map image. Doing so creates a sense of
distance and depth of view.
To view other maps, select other maps from the dropdown list on the top left corner.
