I. Objectives

At the end of the lesson, the pupils should be able to:

a. identify statements between facts and opinions

b. state the importance of knowing fact and opinion in a narrative; and

c. construct narrative with facts and opinion

Now let’s have a game.


This game called peel that cabbage.
This cabbage will be passed on each one of you
while the music plays. When the music stops the
person who is holding the cabbage will get one
leaf and read aloud the sentence written on it
and answer if it is fact or opinion.

Now I have here a narrative.

A narrative is the general term (for a story long or


short, of past, present or future; factual or
imagined; told for any purposes; and with or
without much detail).

You are going to read the narrative entitled “My


Favorite Pets”.

My Favorite Pets

Do you have a favorite pet? In our home, there


are lots of pets. My big brother has five breeds of
dogs, my elder sister has two cats and my
younger sibling has also four pairs of love birds
and one dwarf rabbit in our backyard.
Do you know about dogs? They are able to see
much better in dim light than humans are. They
look so cute and charming. Dogs laugh often but
humans have trouble recognizing it because it
sounds like they’re just panting.

Cats have also mind-blowing characteristics. They


send 70% of their lives sleeping and there are
many interesting facts about cat. My sister’s cats
are very intelligent for they know a lot of tricks.

The lovebirds of my younger siblings are very


sweet in manner, they make great companion
with each other. Did you know that dwarf rabbits
are intelligent? They can be easily trained and
understand basic command.

We love to see our houses full of pets. There are


many positive experiences of being a pet owner.
You should try to experience too. I am pretty sure
that it would be fun together with your family.

should have representative to present your
