Detailed Lesson Plan in English V

I. Objectives: At the end of the lesson, the pupils are expected to ;


a. Distinguish fact from opinion,
b. Observe politeness at all times.

II. Subject Matter:

Topic: Distinguishing Fact from Opinion (Listening)

Materials: strip of paper rolled with ribbon, box, manila paper, pentel pen,
projector, laptop

III. Procedure:
a. Prayer
b. Motivation
Game: Pick out a strip ( rolled with ribbon )
with a statement stating a fact or an opinion
inside a box. Those who picked an opinion
should go to the left side; those who picked a
fact should go to the right side. Pupils who did
not get it correctly should recite a poem or a
dance number.

* Boats never sink. -It is an opinion.
* Ice is cold. -It is a fact.
* Three is not a number between two and four. -It is an opinion.
* All people can read. -It is an opinion.
* A kitten grew up to be a cat. -It is a fact.
* You should brush your teeth. -It is an opinion.
* A baby cannot count one to ten. -It is an opinion.
* Rich people are happy. -It is an opinion.

a. Jose works with animals. In fact, he spends
every spare moment in a neighborhood pet store. After
school, he helps feed the animals and clean their cages.
He spends a lot of time training the animals so that they

to do when he grows up. He thinks that he will become
an excellent veterinary doctor in the future.

e. Guided Practice
There’s no need to group you, since you are in
group already composes of three (2) groups. To do the
task I will give you 3 minutes to answer. When you finish,
one of the member of the group will do the reporting. In
this activity, you will follow a rubric so that you will be
guided in doing your work.
