Competency/ies
Key Concepts Waste Management , Evacuation, Decontamination and the Personal Protective
Equipment(PPE)
1. Objectives:
Knowledge Know the purpose of waste management and its procedures and techniques;
Define evacuation, decontamination and PPE;
Skills Know how to organize waste materials through the help of waste management
techniques and procedures;
Use the personal protective equipment that can be used in the kitchen;
Attitudes Make a habit in reduce, re-use, recycle and recover any waste materials
Make a habit also in wearing the personal protective equipment ;
Values Displays awareness on the role of every one in terms of waste management.
Evacuation
- It is the immediate and rapid movement of people away from the threat
or actual occurrence of hazard.
Decontamination
- It is the process of removing or neutralizing harmful materials that have
gathered on personnel or worker and/or equipment during the response

Personal Protective Equipment
- Can protect you from hazards associated with jobs such as handling

4.6 Assessment A. MATCHING TYPE:
Directions: Match column A with column B.
A B
1. Making wastes beneficial a. Re-use
2. The recovery of materials for use b. Recycle
in other purpose
3. Proper discharge of waste into land c. Segregation
4. Decomposition of organic matter d. Composting
5. The process of dividing garbage and waste e. Waste Disposal
products in an effort to reduce, reuse and
recycle materials.
B. TRUE OR FALSE
Write true if the statement is correct and false if the statement is wrong.
1. Decontaminating the PPE can be done by just washing and rinsing with
water only.
2. Evacuation is not necessary in cases of spills or chemical reactions
resulting in toxic fumes.
3. Avoiding contact is the easiest method of decontamination- that is, not
to get the material on the worker or his protective equipment in the first
place.
4. Double bag clothing and label appropriately is necessary to avoid
contamination.
5. The residues of the decontamination process must be treated as non-
