JUAN LUNA
Juan Luna was born on
October 23, 1857, in Badoc,
Ilocos Norte, Philippines
Luna was educated in Manila
and then traveled to Europe,
where he continued his studies
and developed his styles.
JUAN LUNA
He painted a wide range of
subjects, including landscapes,
genre scenes, and historical
and religious themes. However,
he is best known for his
masterpieces "Spoliarium" and
"The Parisian Life."
Spoliarium" is a painting
that depicts the Roman
gladiatorial games and
their aftermath. It won
the gold medal at the
Madrid Exposition of
Fine Arts in 1884,
bringing Luna
international
recognition.
The Parisian Life" is a
painting that shows the
lavish lifestyle of the
upper class in Paris,
where Luna lived for a
time.
"El Pacto de Sangre" is a
novel written by Juan
Luna. this painting shows
the historical event of the
blood compact between
Spanish explorer Miguel
López de Legazpi and
Filipino chieftain Rajah
Sikatuna.
"La Batalla de Lepanto" or
"The Battle of Lepanto".
The painting depicts the
naval battle that occurred
on October 7, 1571,
between the Holy League,
a coalition of Catholic
maritime states, and the
Ottoman Empire.
"Death of Cleopatra" -
This painting shows the
death of the famous
Egyptian queen and is
notable for its dramatic
lighting and intense
emotion.
FERNANDO
AMORSOLO
Fernando Amorsolo was born on May 30, 1892, in
Paco, Manila, Philippines.
Amorsolo studied at the Liceo de Manila and the
University of the Philippines, where he honed his
artistic skills. He painted a variety of subjects,
including landscapes, portraits, and genre scenes,
but his most famous works depict the rural life of
the Philippines.

Fernando Amorsolo is a renowned
Filipino painter known for his masterful
use of light and color in his paintings.
Amorsolo used family members as
subjects as many as his sketches and
paintings
-Many of these paintings were exhibited
in the Malacañang presendential place

This painting depicts
Filipino farmers planting
rice in a lush green field
The Burning of Manila
(1942) - This painting
shows the destruction of
Manila during World War
II, with flames and smoke
rising up from the city.
Fruit Gatherer (1921) - This
painting depicts a young
Filipina gathering fruits
from a tree in a sunny
field.
Dalagang Bukid (1936) -
This painting features a
young Filipina in
traditional dress, holding a
basket of fruits and
flowers.
El Ciego (The Blind Man)
(1932) - This painting
portrays an old blind man
sitting on a bench with a
hat in his hand, while a
young boy leads him.
Juan Luna and Fernando Amorsolo
were two of the most prominent
Filipino artists in history. Their
