    Title: Risk Management And Future Expansion Of Linux Server

    Objectives
    • Planning, configure, install a Linux server to provide automatic IP address for all PC on the given
    network. (CLO 3)
    • Planning, configure, install a Linux server for Backup Files. (CLO3)
    • Verify connectivity, backup files, task scheduling and all the client’s PC can get an automatic IP
    address. (CLO3)

    Problem Statements:

    A small, independent, sales company Happy Sdn. Bhd. consisting of an owner, a business manager, an
    administrator, and four staffs decides to implement a network. The company occupies half of a small building in
    an office park. Their volume of business had been stable for the past three years, but recently it has been
    increasing. Figure1 illustrates the current arrangement.

    Everyone in the company has a computer, but these computers are not connected by any form of networking.
    When staffs need to share a document, they must first copy the file to a floppy disk, and then carry it to the
    other staff computer.

    Recently, problems have arisen. There is a lot of virus coming up from USB pen drive that has been use to share
    data between staff in this company. Your employer asks you to solve this problem efficiently using any latest
    technology.

    Job Tasks:

    As a junior network engineer in the company, you are required to planning the network connection and
    configuration of the network before real implementation. Your tasks are:

    LIST THE PROBLEMS FACING BY THIS COMPANY AND PROPOSE THE SOLUTION FOR EACH PROBLEM by:

    • Propose a network connection to implement in the company. Design the network complete with IP
    address, Hostname and Interface type. Servers are configured with Static IP address and clients have
    dynamic IP addresses received from a DHCP Server. Show the verification for each configuration.

    • Provide Graphical layout and both Logical and Physical network topology for the new proposed network.

    • Explanation of the hardware (servers, workstations, routers, switches) / software (antivirus software,
    file sharing software, backup software) / protocol (addressing protocol, network protocol, file sharing
    protocol) needed for the proposed network.
    • Analysis of the suitable backup for the server and TWO (2) reasons to apply the backup type.

    • Extra enhancement for the company management - Implement task scheduling for a better
    management of the company. Explain in details the process and show the configuration involve. Display
    your output accordingly.

    GUIDELINES FOR THIS TASK:

    1. In group maximum of 4 persons, you have to prepare a REPORT. The report should consist:
    i. Title page - with all necessary details
    ii. Table of contents
    iii. Introduction / Description of the task
    iv. List of problems faced by the company and their suggestion/implementation of solution.
    - Graphical layout and both Logical and Physical network topology for the new proposed
    network.
    - Explanation on the configuration of the solution regarding their problem accordingly.
    - Configuration for each solution – explanation on the hardware, software and protocol
    implement in the solution.
    - Task scheduling implementation – configuration and explanation.
