Airbus Helicopters has recently been informed of the in-flight loss of a window panel of the RH sliding door on an
AS365 N3 helicopter.
The loss had no further consequences for the helicopter, its occupants and persons on the ground.
Investigations showed that the probable cause for the in-flight loss of the window panel was a deterioration of the
seal during the last jettison test performed during compliance with maintenance Work Card MET 52-91-00-503
(Sliding doors - Adjustment / Test) or MET 52-91-02-503 (Enlarged sliding doors - Adjustment / Test).
As the in-flight loss of a window panel can have serious consequences for the helicopter and/or persons on the
ground, Airbus Helicopters issues this Safety Information Notice to draw your attention to the need for precise
compliance with maintenance Work Cards 52-91-00-503 and 52-91-02-503 (MET), especially during the window
jettison test.
Airbus Helicopters also informs you of the improvement of the content of the maintenance Work Cards (see table
below) to include a visual inspection phase and specify the replacement of the seal, if required due to
deterioration during the window jettison test.
