in this sermon I will convey the importance of greetings (salam)

One of the most important things in the life of a Muslim community is to spread the greeting
or salam. By doing so, there will be mutual love between them, even if they do not know
each other. How many times we find the Messenger of encouraging us to spread the greeting
of peace. Hadists Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of
Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said.

There are six rights of a Muslim over another Muslim. "If you meet someone, greet him. If he
calls you, fulfill his call. If he asks you for advice, give him advice. If he sneezes and praises
Allah, pray for him[1]. If he is sick, visit him; and if he dies, escort his body.

What should not be forgotten in the custom of greeting salam is to say salam when entering
the house. Allah, the Almighty, says,

When you enter a house, greet yourselves with the greeting of peace as an honor from the
blessed and good side of Allah." (an-Nur: 61), The meaning of the above verse includes his
own house and the houses of others, whether there are people in the house or not.

We need to Answering Greetings with a Better Greeting.

When you are greeted with a greeting, greet in return with what is better than it, or (at least) return
it equally. Certainly, Allah is Ever a Careful Account Taker of all things.

(an-Nisa: 86)

Imam Ibn Kathir (may Allah have mercy on him) explained: When a Muslim greets you, reply with a
greeting that is better than what he said, or reply as he said it. So, replying to the greeting with more
greetings is Sunnah, while replying with the same greeting is obligatory."
