Purpose
The purpose of this study is to find out the factors affecting academic achievement of
Grade 11 students of Accountancy, Business and Management (ABM). ABM is one of the
and an understanding of accounting concepts and principles. The learners did not even
aware that the subject is very important if they intend to take the course whether it is board or
non-board program in their higher education especially so that in College, they will no longer
take up Introductory Accounting. Per CHED program, colleges and universities may not offer

1. What are the problems or difficulties encountered by the ABM Grade 11 learners in terms
of:
1.1 Academic
1.2 Domestic
3. What measures could be undertaken to minimize, if not totally eliminate, the problems
encountered.
Design/Methodology/Approach
The researcher made use of the descriptive research method. The study was undertaken
composed of one hundred sixty-two (162) samples. The methodology used was quantitative
and used researcher-made survey questionnaire which was validated by the expert. An
interview guide was also used by the researcher for supplemental, details and clarification of
some items of the survey. Survey questionnaire were distributed to the respondents. After
the retrieval of the questionnaire, the researcher tabulated, analyzed and interpreted data.
Findings
Many students have common problems such as 1) lack of reference books, 2) difficulties

Research Limitations/Implications
The researcher made use of the descriptive research method. The study was undertaken
during the second semester of SY 2017-2018 of Grade 11 ABM Strand. The target repondents
were learners in Grade 11 of Lemery Senior High School in the school year 2017-2018 in
Pilot campus.
Originality/Value
As an introductory subject, knowledge and skills must be concrete to prepare them not
only for the acquisition of professional knowledge but also to be able to perform hands-on
work and knowledge application in different work settings and societies. In this regard, the
researcher have to produce ultimately books and/or accounting module for the students not
only in Lemery Senior High School but also to everyone wishes to learn Accounting.
