1. Wind power
Departments:
La Guajira: The department of La Guajira offers wind speeds that are double the
world average. In this way, the production of clean energy will be constant and
the wind farm will be able to generate 20 megawatts, which is equivalent to the
energy consumption of 33,295 Colombian families. 16 parks have been projected
and 2 are already done.
The park covers 25,000 hectares in the only mountain range of La Guajira, and its
altitude ranges from 0 to 450 meters. The wind gusts at approximately 30 km per
hour.
Atlántico: The wind project in the Caribbean Sea will have a capacity of more than
350 megawatts and will be located in the ocean, near the city of Barranquilla.
In San Andrés Islands: it is the second in Colombia with the fastest winds. On
average, their speed reaches 4.6 meters per second annually.
Cesar: specifically in Valledupar it is the third municipality with the fastest winds.
Annually, its gusts average 3.7 meters per second.
2. Solar energy
Departments:
Atlántico: In addition to this wind project, Barranquilla also plans to install 70,000
solar panels on the roofs of more than 300 public buildings such as Timely Health
Care Points, Timely Comprehensive Medical Care Centers, schools, etc.
Córdoba: the great objective of both the national and departmental governments
is to convert that department into a massive generator of renewable energy,
mainly from photovoltaic sources, for which there are already several projects
under development and others that are already generating.

In the municipality of Chinú, the La Tolúa, Tierra Linda, Campano and Pétalo de
Córdoba II projects; in Planeta Rica, the Planeta Rica project and in Montería the
PV La Unión project, add a total of 258.5 megawatts to their maximum capacity,
which could be integrated into the country's energy system.
Antioquía: In recent days, two large solar energy projects were inaugurated in the
department.
One of these is the plant for the generation of solar energy of the firms Groupe
SEB Andean and GreenYellow, which is the first of its kind in the metallurgical
sector. It is located in Rionegro and has an area of 11,892 m2.
The plant has about 4,000 solar panels that allow it to have an installed capacity
of 1.4 MWp (peak megawatts), producing clean energy equivalent to 9% of the
current consumption of its plant in Rionegro, that is, 1,937 MWh (megawatt) by
year.
Valle del Cauca: In terms of photovoltaic solar energy, Valle del Cauca has great
potential. The department has the largest photovoltaic solar system in the
country installed in an educational institution, and has the first solar farm in
Colombia since the end of 2017, which will generate 16 GWh of energy per year.
3. Geothermal energy
Departments:
Tolima: There is the Nevado de Ruíz volcano, with the greatest geothermal
potential in the country, currently in Colombia there are no geothermal power
generation projects.
Nariño:
