Wind power
Wind energy is a renewable energy source that uses
the power of the wind to generate electricity. The main
means of obtaining it are wind turbines , “windmills” of
variable size that transform the kinetic energy of the
wind into mechanical energy with their blades.
Environmental benefits of wind energy.
• A wind farm requires only the wind to
operate.
> Aquifer-friendly energy: due to the absence of any type of contaminating waste, it
does not alter the composition of the water in the area, which is a fundamental
element when it comes to protecting local water reserves and the ecosystems linked
to them.
> It is compatible with other activities such as agriculture and livestock, which means
that it does not have a negative impact on the local economy as it does not require
labor specialization in the area. This allows the areas in which it is installed to continue
developing its activity. traditional at the same time
increase their activity thanks to wind energy.
Social impact of the wind industry in
Mexico.
• Wind energy has a huge social impact. The environmental benefits of this
technology play an important role, since by generating electrical energy from
clean energy sources, they achieve a significant reduction in greenhouse gas
emissions associated with electrical generation.
• Likewise, the installation of wind farms in rural areas of the country, where
the main economic activities are agriculture and livestock, generates
additional income for the owners of the land used, without affecting their
traditional activity.
• The installation of wind farms generates jobs and an economic impact in the
regions in which it is developed, motivated both by the increase in income of
a large number of families and by the Social Responsibility projects of
companies.

What happens if the wind stops blowing?
Before building or locating a wind farm, studies of the wind resource
are carried out to establish the amount of energy it can produce.
During some hours of the day and at certain times of the year, it is
possible that wind turbines stop due to lack of wind and even, in some
cases, due to the presence of winds with speeds greater than those
they can operate. However, current technology makes it possible to
predict the production of a park quite accurately several days in
advance.
lifespan of a wind turbine
• Wind turbines have a useful life between 20 and 25 years. This may
vary according to the wind conditions of the site, its correct operation
and the maintenance that is given during this time.
Time required to build a wind farm.
Wind energy is intermittent Batteries have been developed that allow the electricity
produced to be stored
Wind farms generate little electricity Wind farms generate a lot of electricity -Today almost 6% of
electricity is generated with wind turbines, equivalent to
satisfying more than a million Mexicans
