Quantitative projects
Quantitative research involve large sample

focused or emotional
insight that is the aim of
qualitative research.

DESCRIPTIVE RESEARCH DESIGN
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE
CORRELATIONAL RESEARCH?

• Looks at the
relationship between
two or more variables
• Determines the strength
and type of relationship
• Explains what is seen
• No cause and effect

HOW ABOUT QUASI-EXPERIMENTAL
RESEARCH?
• Examines cause-and-effect
relationships
• Less control by researcher than
true experimental designs
• Samples are not randomly
selected.
• All variables in the study cannot
be controlled by the researcher.
TRUE EXPERIMENTAL RESEARCH
TRUE EXPERIMENTAL RESEARCH

 Controlled manipulation of at least one independent

variable
 Uses experimental and control groups
 Random assignment of the sample to the experimental and
control groups
FRAMEWORKS
The THEORETICAL
FRAMEWORK is the
structure that can hold or
support a theory of a
research study. The
theoretical framework
introduces and describes
the theory which explains
why the research problem
under study exists.
EXAMPLE

This study used descriptive technique of research. According to

Cudia and Tallungan (2015), the descriptive method is a methodology
that accentuates the present status of a phenomenon, describes a current
situation, determines the nature of prevailing conditions or practices and
seeks accurate descriptions of activities, objects, persons and processes.
Hence, it will be used to define the performance level and learning
experiences of the selected students; the challenges encountered by the
respondents; and surfacing recommendations on the use of certain
learning modalities.
EXAMPLE

The study shall use descriptive-qualitative-quantitative research approach. As highlighted by Cudia and
Tallungan (2015), cited by Rojas (2019), the descriptive method is a methodology that emphasizes the present
status of a phenomenon, describes a current situation, determines the nature of prevailing conditions or
practices and seeks accurate descriptions of activities, objects, persons and processes. Hence, it will be used
to define the background information of the said participants along with the variables on learners’
achievement levels, learning approaches and styles.

The study shall chiefly focus on the use experimental research design with experimental group and
control group. Each class will include 20 students. The participants shall undergo 2-week teaching-learning
intervention using blended learning (experimental group) and modular distance learning (control group).
Hence, descriptive-comparative approach will also be use in order to evaluate significant variations on the
participants’ achievement levels in the simulated formative examinations for understanding cellular
respiration and its Biotechnological applications. The score shall be gathered from a teacher-made validated
pre/posttest (see attached assessment and table of specifications – Appendix A).
By means of descriptive statistics, the above-mentioned variables will be qualitatively defined giving some
explanations in each variable which will be established from the computed statistics on the computed scales
of the concepts that will be evaluated. All inferential statistics shall also be computed at 0.05 margin error.
FRAMEWORKS
A CONCEPTUAL
FRAMEWORK is a tool
researchers use to guide their
inquiry; it is a set of ideas used
to structure the research, a sort
of map that may include the
research question, the literature
review, methods and data
analysis.
Researchers use a conceptual
framework to guide their data
collection and analysis.
