Unit 6
Assignment: Identifying Your Community’s Resources

In this assignment, you will demonstrate what you learned about community-based resources by
gathering information then creating a presentation of what you have learned.

Step 1: Research three community resources

Use the table below to organize your information.

 Identify THREE community resources. The primary goal of each resource must support healthy
child development. You may use resources that you are already familiar with or research
resources in your own community.
 Identify where each resource is located. Where in your community is each resource located? If
the resource is being offered by your local city or county government OR a private organization,
provide the location of each.
 Describe the specific goal of each resource. For each resource, what is the specific goal for
helping child development? Sometimes, the resource will have a published Mission Statement
or "About Us" on its website.
 Explain the work. The work the resource provides is different from the goal. The work is related
to the kind of activities the resource is doing.
 Evaluate activities that support child development. Be specific in your evaluations of each
support. Use what you have learned about the specific areas of child development.
