Circle

Circles have been part of humanity since the days

of the Roman Empire. Because of its aesthetic
importance, circle or parts of it are extensively
used in architecture, constructions of bridges,
monuments, skyways, and buildings.

cellphone, circle plays very important rule. We use
a lot of things involving circles in our daily life but
we don’t understand how it works.

Circle – according to Apollonius’ study, the curve

that is form by the intersection of the plane and a
double right circular cone, given that the cutting
plane is not parallel to any generator but is Standard Equation of a Circle with Center at

o The center of a circle is point inside
it and is equidistant to any point 𝑥2 + 𝑦2 = 𝑟2
on the circle. Its coordinates are
𝑥 2 + 𝑦 2 = 32
usually presented by (h,k).
• Radius (r) – the constant distance from 𝑥2 + 𝑦2 = 9
the center
2. Write the equation of a circle below in
o It refers to measure or length of
standard form.
the line segment formed by the
center and a point on the circle.
The radius of a circle is usually
represented by r.
• Diameter (d) - A line segment that passes
through the center. Its endpoints are two
points on the circle and its midpoint is the
center. The measure of the diameter is
twice the radius and is represented by d. 𝑥2 + 𝑦2 = 𝑟2
𝑥 2 + 𝑦 2 = 72
𝑥 2 + 𝑦 2 = 49
