A. Review

Last time, we had talk about

fractions.

What is fraction? Fraction names a part

of a whole or a set.

What are the parts of a fraction? Numerator

Now, we will have a new topic. Are you Yes, teacher.

all excited?

B. Motivation

Alright! Before we are going to start

our lesson for today, I want you to
meet someone.

Are you all excited? Yes, teacher.

I want you to meet Mr. Emoji D.

Clock

It’s nice to meet you too, Mr. Emoji

D. Clock.

(Varied answers of learners)

12, Teacher.

2, Teacher.

Good job kids! You got it all right.

C. Presentation
After meeting Mr. Emoji D. Clock, you
are able to know that he has 12
numbers and 2 hands in his face.

Now can you guess what is our topic Telling time, Teacher.
for today?

Alright! Our topic for today is about

Telling time.

But before we proceed to our

discussion, I will present a video
presentation for you to be able to
understand more the topic we are
going to discuss today.

Is that okay with you, class? Yes, Teacher.

Based from the video that was shown
to you earlier, what are the two types
of clock?

D. Discussion

Okay, after knowing the two types

of clock. Now, let’s proceed to our
discussion.

Let’s define first what is a clock. A

clock is a device used to tell time. A
clock has two types, the analog
clock and the digital clock.

Let’s have first the analog clock.

An analog clock is a clock that has
moving hands and (usually) hours
marked from 1 to 12 to show you
the time.

The short hand tells the hour of a day.

That is why it is called the hour hand.

Again class, what is the short hand The short hand tells the hour of a
tells us? day. That is why it is called the hour
hand.

The movement of the short hand from

one number to the next number is
equal to 1 hour. This movement is
equal to 60 minutes.

Do you get it, class? Yes, teacher.

For you to be able to understand well

the movement of the short hand from
one number to the next number, we
will have a demonstration.

(Teacher demonstrate the movement

of the short hand in the interactive
clock.)

Always remember that the movement

of the short hand from one number to
the next number is equal to 1 hour.
This movement is equal to 60 minutes.

Now, let’s move on to the long

hand.
The long hand is called the minute
hand.

Again class, what is the long hand? The long hand is called the minute
hand.

Very good.

The movement of the long hand from

one number to the next number is
equal to five minutes.

If

the long hand points at 1, we read it as

5. If it points at 2, we read it as 10, and
so on.

We read the number by skip counting

by 5 until it reaches 11. When the long
hand points at 12, it means that 60
minutes or 1 hour has passed.

Do you get it, class?

Now, let’s have an example.

Ailene wakes up at six o’clock in the

morning. At 6:30 A.M., she takes a
bath. She is ready to go to school at
7:10 A.M.

What time does Ailene take a bath?

Now let’s have the analog clock to

show what 6:30 A.M. looks like. 6:30 A.M.

https://www.visnos.com/demos/clock

Which number should we put the short

hand?

Very Good! 6, Teacher.

How about the long hand?

Very Good!
6, Teacher.
Now, this is what 6:30 looks like in our
analog
clock
What time does Ailene ready to go to
school?

Alright! Now let’s have the analog clock

to show what 7:10 A.M. looks like.

Which number should we put the short

hand?
7:10 A.M., Teacher.
Very Good!

How about the long hand?

Very Good!

Now, this is what 7:10 looks like in our

analog clock. 7, Teacher.

2, Teacher

How many minutes had past from the

time that Ailene is taking a bath, up to
the time that she is ready to go to
school?

Let’s find it out in our analog clock to

see if your answer is correct.

https://www.visnos.com/demos/clock

Very Good!
Now, always remember class that we 40 minutes, Teacher.
use A.M. to tell the time in the morning
and P.M. in the afternoon and evening.

Do you get it, class?

Now, let’s have that the digital clock.

Unlike the analog clock that tells time

using hands on a dial, digital clock
displays the time in numerical digits.

Yes, Teacher.

As you can see, the right part tells

the minutes and the left part tells
the hour.

The time shown in the digital clock is

five-thirty in the morning.

Do you get it, class?

Yes, Teacher.

really understood our topic for
today.
G. Application

To further enhance your learning,

we will have an activity.
Instructions: Complete the sentences
below by writing the timeeach activity

IV. Evaluation
Now we will have another activity to evaluate your learning in our lesson for today. This
test can be accessed through a Google Form. Click the link that will be shared in the chat
box. Do not forget to click “submit” once you are done.
V. Agreement
Now that we are done with our lesson, we should always remember that knowing how
to tell time using analog and digital clock is a very important skill. The ability to read a
clock impacts our life at home, at school, at work, and in social settings. To tell time is
one of the important steps towards independence. It will help us with scheduling, task
efficiency, budgeting time, and also prioritizing what to do first. Telling time helps us to
know if we are early or late in our class. That is why, we should practice habit of coming
on time in our class.
