Important Information

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome back to a new school year!


We hope that everyone had enjoyed a fun filled and relaxing summer!
At the beginning of the academic session 2022-23, we will endeavour to maintain an environment that is
conducive to learning for our students, staff, and parents. A unique and supportive learning environment that
promotes positive relationship develops personal responsibility, and acquiring 21st century skills. We
perceive the imperative significance of the relationship between staff and parents, your partnership and
support are key elements to ensure that we are able to maximize each student’s educational and personal
development. To that end, we encourage a positive home-school relationship based on the mutual goal of
providing the best learning experience possible for all of our students.

Our talented faculty brings a diverse set of approaches to instruction in order to address a variety of student
learning styles. We believe that all students can learn and achieve. We are working smarter to help all students
meet or exceed the grade level expectations in all areas. Our goal is to ensure that all students reach high
levels of success. We will continue to sustain a learning environment that will encourage active learning,
positive social interactions, and self-motivation. My staff and I hope all of our students will SOAR TO
SUCCESS!
We request you to kindly note the following details:
Section Details
1. School gates will be closed at 8:00 am. Thereafter, no student/teacher/visitor will be allowed inside the
Campus. Parents are requested not to meet the teachers in the classrooms.
2. The visiting hours of the Section are from 2:10 pm to 3:15pm – Monday to Thursday. (Prior appointment is
required). Please call to make an appointment at 021-35842026.
3. Parents are requested to communicate with us through the homework diary in case of any query.
4. Students are to be dressed properly in the school uniform. Please refer to the code of conduct.
5. Prep Section will use Gate 4 for entry and exit both.

Attendance
Please make sure that your child attends the school daily. In case of being absent please inform the school.
At least 85% attendance is expected in a term.

Homework
A proper homework schedule is planned for the students according to the policy. The given homework will
be the reinforcement of work done in the class/school. It is an opportunity for the students to work
independently, to research and extend their learning. Parents are requested to keep a check for the completion
of task. Homework schedule is written in school diary. Parents are recommended to encourage their child to
develop the habit of reading for at least 15 minutes a day.

Assessment and Examination
The two major components of formal assessment in The City School are Continuous Assessment and
Examination.

a. Continuous Assessment (Coursework)


It includes all class activities, projects and assessments that build a picture of a students' performance over
time.
• Activities
Regular independent activities are undertaken in the class which are completed and marked/ assessed/
observed during class.
• Project
Project work is investigative learning. One project is assigned for each subject. For Islamiyat, oral test will
be taken.
• Assessment
Class assessments will be held for all the subjects and will be given at a suitable point in the course at teachers'
discretion.

b. Examinations
Mid-Year Examination is held in the First Term (December) and End of Year Examination is held in the
Second Term (May). Exam scores and Class Assessment scores are reported independently. The subject
grade is based on exam percentage only.
Mid-Year Examination (MYE):

Exam score of Mid-Year Examination will determine the final MYE result. Mid-Year percentage is carried
forward to the End of Year Report.
End of Year Examination (EoY):
10% of MYE exam score and 90% of EoY exam score will determine the final EoY result.
If a student is admitted in the second term, his/her final result will be based on 100% End of Year
Examination result.
Core Subjects: (English/Math/Urdu/Science)
The paper content will comprises of 40% from 1st Term topics and 60% from 2nd term topics.
Non-core subjects: (History/Geography/Islamiyat/Computing)

The End-Year Examination will be based on the Second Term’s work only.

Computing Assessment:
Students will be assessed on their computing skills performance in the computing lesson, which will be
considered as course learning marks. Course Learning percentage will be calculated on the marks obtained
by students in practical activities of computing subject. Written assessment will be conducted for MYE and
EoY examination.

Criteria for Promotion
An overall percentage is calculated for the promotion purpose only.

Class 6 Class 7-8


• A minimum of 50% in English and • A minimum of 60% in English and other

For promotion from Class 8 to Class 9, MYE or EOY Examination result will serve as bifurcation to Matric
Stream.

Promotion to O’ Level Stream:


• A minimum of 60% in English and other two core subjects
• An overall average at least of 60%
• At least 90% of attendance
Promotion to Matric Stream:

• A minimum of 40% in English and other two core subjects


• An overall average at least of 45%
• At least 85% of attendance

Parent Teacher Meeting


1st PTM will be held in October and 2nd PTM in March.

Cell Phone Policy:


Students are not allowed to bring the cell phones to school. Office phone can be used for the purpose of
communication with the parents and vice versa. If a child carries a phone in case of any emergency, it must
be registered at the school office. In such cases, only basic phone will be permitted.
Any student who is found breaking these guidelines will suffer the loss of the privilege of having a phone.
In the first instance, the phone will be confiscated for the period of one week. Further offences will result in
severe consequences.
