The module is divided into two lessons, namely:


• Lesson 1 – Letters of the Alphabet
• Lesson 2 – Alphabet Phonemes

After going through this module, you are expected to:


1. identify the letters of the alphabet;
2. identify sound of each letter;
3. associate phonemes to each letter.

The English Alphabet consists of 26 letters. Each letter has


an uppercase (capital letter) and a lowercase (small
letter).

There are five letters in the alphabet that are called


Vowels. These are a, e, i, o, u.

The remaining 21 letters are called Consonants. These


letters are b, c, d, f, g, h, j, k, l, m, n, p, q, r, s, t, v, w, x, y, z.
Each letter has its own sound.

What’s New

There are 26 letters in the English Alphabet and each


letter has a different sound from each other. Vowel sound
can be short or long. Consonant letters have distinct
sounds.
