1. Course Overview:
Mechatronics is the field of study concerned with the design, selection, analysis, and
control of systems that combine mechanical elements with electronic components,
including computers and/or microcontrollers. Mechatronics topics involve elements from
mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and computer science, and the subject
matter is directly related to advancements in computer technology.

Introduction to Mechatronics: Structure of
Mechatronics system. Sensors - Characteristics -
Temperature, flow, pressure sensors. Displacement,
position and proximity sensing by magnetic, optical,
I ultrasonic, inductive, capacitive and eddy current 8 15%

I. To introduce the features of various sensors used in CNC machines and robots
II. To study the fabrication and functioning of MEMS pressure and inertial sensors

simple applications
