Introductory Message

For the facilitator:

Welcome to the TLE 10 – Technical Drafting Module on Preparing

Plan Using CAD!

This Self-Learning Module was collaboratively designed, developed and

reviewed by educators from the Schools Division Office of Pasig City headed
by its Officer-in-Charge Schools Division Superintendent, Ma. Evalou
Concepcion A. Agustin, in partnership with the City Government of Pasig
through its mayor, Honorable Victor Ma. Regis N. Sotto. The writers utilized
the standards set by the K to 12 Curriculum using the Most Essential
Learning Competencies (MELC) in developing this instructional resource.

This learning material hopes to engage the learners in guided and

independent learning activities at their own pace and time. Further, this also
aims to help learners acquire the needed 21st century skills especially the 5
Cs, namely: Communication, Collaboration, Creativity, Critical Thinking, and
Character while taking into consideration their needs and circumstances.

In addition to the material in the main text, you will also see this box
in the body of the module:

Notes to the Teacher

This contains helpful tips or strategies that
will help you in guiding the learners.

As a facilitator you are expected to orient the learners on how to use

this module. You also need to keep track of the learners' progress while
allowing them to manage their own learning. Moreover, you are expected to
encourage and assist the learners as they do the tasks included in the module.

For the learner:

Welcome to the TLE 10 – Technical Drafting Module on Preparing

Plan Using CAD!

This module was designed to provide you with fun and meaningful
opportunities for guided and independent learning at your own pace and time.
You will be enabled to process the contents of the learning material while
being an active learner.

This module has the following parts and corresponding icons:

Expectations - This points to the set of knowledge and

skills that you will learn after completing the module.

Pretest - This measures your prior knowledge about the

lesson at hand.

Recap - This part of the module provides a review of

concepts and skills that you already know about a previous
lesson.

Lesson - This section discusses the topic in the module.

Activities - This is a set of activities that you need to

perform.

Wrap-Up - This section summarizes the concepts and

application of the lesson.

Valuing - This part integrates a desirable moral value in

the lesson.

Posttest - This measures how much you have learned

from the entire module.

Upon completion of this lesson, you are expected to:

 enumerate the different Multilines Edit Tools;
 identify the different Multilines Edit Tools; and
 develop understanding on the important uses of multilines in creating a
drawing.

A. Directions: Choose from the illustration or symbols in COLUMN B what

Multilines Edit Tools is named in COLUMN A. Write the letter of the
corresponding answer on the blank provided.

REMINDERS:
Remember these things before during and after you work on your computer.

 Handle computer with extra care;

 No foods or drinks near the computer;
 Keep your files in good order;

 Unplug the computer when not in use;
 Always save your work from time to time.

LESSON

LO2 PREPARE PLAN USING CAD

LO2.1 SET UP DRAWINGS ACCORDING TO STANDARD DRAWING SCALE AND
PAPER SIZE

LO2.1.5 CREATING and EDITING MULTILINES

Multilines are composed of parallel lines, called elements. When you draw a
multiline, you can use the default STANDARD style which has two elements
(commonly used for wall lines in architectural drawings) or specify a style that you
created previously. You can also change the justification and scale of the multiline
before you make a drawing.

Multiline justification determines which side of the cursor that the multiline is
drawn, or whether it is centered on the cursor.
8

Multiline scale controls the overall width of the multiline using the current units.
However, it does not affect linetype scale. If you change the multiline scale, you might
need to make equivalent changes to the linetype scale to prevent dots or dashes from
being disproportionately sized.

DIFFERENT MULTILINE COMMANDS:

1. MLINE (ML)– multiline command is used to create multiple parallel lines or

multilines comprise of up to 16 lines.
2. MLSTYLE– a command option that sets the number of elements and each
properties.
3. MLEDIT- a command that gives different intersection options between
multilines with the Multiline Edit Tools dialog box.

MLINE OPTIONS:

1. J for Justification – determines the path or location of dragline (top, zero,

bottom).
2. S for Scale – controls the thickness or overall width of the multilines (ex.
thickness of walls).
3. ST for Style – specifies the multiline style name to be used.

MLINE JUSTIFICATIONS:

CREATING MLINE
 Command: ML [enter]
 Current settings: Justification = Top, Scale = 1.00, Style = STANDARD
 Specify start point or [Justification/Scale/STyle]: type J [enter]
 Enter justification type [Top/Zero/Bottom] <Top>: type Z [enter]
 Current settings: Justification = Zero, Scale = 1.00, Style = STANDARD
 Specify start point or [Justification/Scale/STyle]: type S [enter]
 Enter mline scale <1.00>: type 150 [enter]
 Current settings: Justification = Zero, Scale = 150, Style = STANDARD
 Specify start point or [Justification/Scale/STyle]: P1
9

 Specify next point: type 3000 [enter]

 Specify next point or [Undo]: type 1000 [enter]
 Specify next point or [Close/Undo]: type 3000 [enter]
 Specify next point or [Close/Undo]: type C to close [enter]

Sample 2-line MLINE

CREATING MULTILINE STYLE

You can create named styles for multilines to control the number of elements and
the properties of each element. The properties of multilines include:
The total number of elements
and position of each element.
The offset distance for each
element from the middle of the
multiline.
The color and linetype of each
element.
The visibility of the lines,
called joints, that appear at
each vertex.
The type of end caps that are
used.
The background fill color of
the multiline.

TO CREATE MULTILINE
STYLE:
1. Command: MLSTYLE
[enter]
In the multiline style dialog
box:
2. Click New… button, and type New Style Name;
3. Click Continue button;
4. Type a description in the Description field. (ex. 3-lines);
5. Select Add to add another line to the default;
6. Select each element and change each properties (offset, color, linetype);
10

7. Choose OK when done;

Elements with a positive offset appear on one side of the middle of the multiline;
elements with a negative offset appear on the other side of the middle of the multiline.
Multiline objects are composed of 1 to 16 parallel lines, called elements.

EDITING MULTILINES

 Command: MLEDIT [enter]

 A Multilines Edit Tools dialog box appears with sample figures displayed in
four columns.

The first column edits multilines that cross, second column edits multilines
that form a tee, the third column modifies corner joints of multilines, and the
last column to be cut or joined.

Closed Cross Closed Tee Corner Joint Cut Single

Open Cross Open Tee Add Vertex Cut All
Merged Cross Merged Tee Delete Vertex Weld All

 Choose from any of these Multilines Edit Tools that you want to use for editing
your multilines (ex. Merged Tee – usually used for connecting exterior walls
with interior walls in architectural drawings).
 Select the multilines P1 and P2 and press Enter key to end the command.
11

NOTES:
 Aside from walls, multilines can also be used for drawing windows in
floor plans, roads with different lines representations and different
width, and more.

 You can use most of the common editing commands on

multilines except BREAK, CHAMFER, FILLET, LENGTHEN, and
OFFSET. To perform these operations, first use EXPLODE to replace
the multiline object with separate line objects.
12

A. Directions: Identify the different multilines edit tools illustrated below. Write
your answer on the numbered blank opposite each illustration.
