CITROËN CONNECT NAV

INSTRUCTIONS FOR UPDATING YOUR CITROËN

CONNECT NAV SOFTWARE AND MAPPING
1) FORMATTING THE USB KEY
Use an empty USB key, with at least 16GB capacity.
Mapping files are very large and can take significant time to
download to your computer & upload to your car. We therefore
highly recommend a USB key with 3.0 download speed.

The USB key will need to be formatted. To format using Windows:

 Insert the USB key into the computer
 Click ‘Open folder to view files’, which should automatically appear
when the USB key is inserted.
• If this menu does not automatically appear, run File Explorer by pressing
the ‘Windows’ and ‘E’ keys simultaneously
 Right-click on the name of the USB key that you have just inserted,
under ‘Computer’ in the File Explorer menu
 Left-click ‘Format’
 Ensure that the ‘File system’ is FAT32
 Left-click ‘Start’ to proceed

Caution: Formatting will erase all data on the USB key. Ensure
that any data that you wish to retain on the USB key is backed up
in another location.

2) DOWNLOAD THE SOFTWARE AND/OR MAPPING UPDATES
Software and/or Mapping Updates are accessed online. Vehicles
may have only software updates available, only mapping updates,
or both.
 Access mycitroen-uk.citroen.com/ using a computer
 If you have not already done so, register and add your vehicle to your
MyCitroën account
 Select ‘CITROËN CONNECT NAV’ under the CITROËN SHOP menu
 If Software and/or Mapping updates are available, the website will show
‘UPDATE(S) ARE AVAILABLE FOR YOUR MAP SYSTEM AND
SOFTWARE’
 Download and save the available updates to your computer hard drive
– a maximum of three files for any one vehicle. We recommend you
download the software and license files first, and then the mapping file.
Download Size Approximate Time
Software Update 2.5 GB 1 hour
Software License 8 KB 20 seconds
Map Update 8 GB 2 hours

Please Note: The download times above are approximate and dependant on
internet connection. 3
3) COPYING THE SOFTWARE UPDATE TO THE USB KEY
The software and mapping updates will download into separate ZIP files.
The files within the ZIP need to be extracted onto your computer hard drive
before you copy them onto the USB key (due to file size allowances on
FAT32 format).
 The mapping and software updates will both extract into separate files named
‘SWL’. They should not be renamed – the car only reads ‘SWL’ files
 You cannot have two folders with the same name on the same USB key
 Updates must therefore be performed in two seperate operations

The software update, if available, should always be performed first –

anticipated extraction and transfer time (USB key with 3.0 speed): 10
minutes
 Right-click the software update ZIP file ‘PSA_ovip-int-firmware’. Select your
extraction tool (e.g. ‘7-Zip’, ‘WinZip’) and click ‘Extract Here’, saving this onto
your computer hard drive
 Copy the extracted ‘SWL’ file onto the empty USB key
 Copy the license file onto the USB key underneath the ‘SWL’ file you have
copied. The license file is not in ZIP format so does not need to be extracted

You should now have one ‘SWL’ folder and one license file on the USB key.
4
4) UPDATING THE SOFTWARE IN-CAR
Anticipated upload time (USB key with 3.0 speed): 40 minutes.
The engine must be running whilst the updates are installed. The vehicle should not be driven whilst the updates are installed. We
recommend you disable the ‘Stop & Start’ function via button on the dashboard / touchscreen – this prevents the vehicle from
going into standby.

 Save the extracted software ‘SWL’ and license files on the USB key and insert into the vehicle USB port. Select the ‘Nav’ screen.
 The initial message displayed will read ‘No media content on the USB memory stick’. Ignore this message and do not remove the USB key – this
message will disappear after 10 seconds and will be replaced with step 1 (below). Follow the below instructions on the touch screen.

5) COPYING THE MAPPING UPDATE TO THE USB KEY
Once the software update has been completed in the vehicle (if
required), the mapping update can now be performed. Remove the
USB key from the vehicle and re-insert this into your computer.

Anticipated extraction and transfer time (USB key with 3.0 speed):
10 minutes

 Delete all files from the USB key

 Within the folder location on your computer where the ZIP files are
saved, delete any existing ‘SWL’ file extracted within this folder from
the previous software update – as you cannot have two ‘SWL’ files
saved into the same folder on your computer
 Right-click the software update ZIP file ‘PSA_map-eur’. Select your
extraction tool (e.g. ‘7-Zip, ‘WinZip) and click ‘Extract Here’, saving this
onto your computer hard drive
 Copy the extracted ‘SWL’ file onto the empty USB key

You should now have one ‘SWL’ folder on the USB key containing
the mapping updates.

6) UPDATING THE MAPPING IN-CAR
Anticipated upload time (USB key with 3.0 speed): 60 minutes.
Keep the engine running and vehicle stationary, with ‘Stop & Start’ still disabled. Do not start this process if you do not have the
time to let it complete.

 Save the extracted mapping ‘SWL’ file on the USB key and insert into the vehicle USB port.
