measles, mumps, billiards – are nouns plural in
form but singular in meaning.

#Rule 2- cattle, cavalry, infantry, poultry, gentry,


police, people – are plural in meaning.

#Rule 3- scenery, poetry, furniture, advice, postage,


baggage, stationary, evidence, work, dust, traffic are
all uncountable nouns, hence, singular.

million of dollars, scores of shops etc. take the plural
noun.

nouns- hence, they take the singular form and
masculine gender.
