    THE BKD IMPLEMENTATION

    With the government‟s strong desire to address the drug abuse problem, the
    Dangerous Drugs Board launched the Barkada Kontra Droga in 2004. It is a preventive
    education and information program created to counter the dangers and disastrous
    effects of drug abuse. It aims to transform and develop the individual to be the catalyst
    within his peer group in promoting a healthy, drug-free lifestyle thru participating in
    various wholesome activities and engaging positive alternative endeavour in the
    company of his friends. At least 65% of inmates accused/convicted have committed
    crimes related to drugs. The mission of the new administration is to put a stop to secure
    the production and distribution of illegal drugs. President Duterte wants a safe and
    secure Philippine society for the Filipinos(PNP Directorate for Investigation).
    Even before PRRD was elected as the Philippine President,Dangerous Drug
    Board and the Department of Education have strengthened the drug awareness
    program. National Drug Education Program is the primary approach among non-
    users ,especially among children. In support of RA 9165, the Department have issued
    an order emphasizing the role of educational system in the implementation of Article III
    relating to the random drug testing of secondary or high school students. Article IV
    calling for the participation of the family,students,teachers and the school authorities in
    the enforcement of the Act.
    This role has been incorporated into the NDEP which was set up in 1992 by
    virtue of Republic Act 7624 entitled” Integrating Drug abuse Prevention and Control” in
    the Intermediate and Secondary Curricula as well as the Non-Formal,Informal and
    Indigenous Learning System. Another peer group was organized in order to lessen drug
    related problems not just in school but also in the community
    Barkada Kontra Droga is a peer group organized to provide and support school
    activities that promote awareness and intervention to drug abuse and its related issues.
    This group also supports the projects of the community and its local government with
    the same objective. This organization is supported by the students, teachers, school
    administrators, barangay council, local government unit, private institutions and other
    identified stakeholders.
    In this school year 2019-2020, Adlay National High School has participated and
    initiated activities to fully implement Barkada Kontra Droga.
    THE BKD VISION

    The Barkada Kontra Droga (BKD) of Adlay National High School will promote a Drug-
    free school Community leading in a healthy lifestyle and produce empowered students
    that are morally upright.

    THE BKD MISSION

    ANHS BKD aims to support the National Program of the Government that advocates
    and serves as model to young people to live their lives in a Productive and Healthy way
    away from the evil effects of Drugs.
    It will also provide essential programs and activities for the youth to fight against drugs
    with the help of the students, parents, teaching and staff, Local government, and other
    stakeholders.
