The main landing gear is of the trailing arm type. The nose landing
gear is of the direct type, and both have twin wheels. The figure ″LANDING GEAR CONTROL - COMPONENT LOCA-
TIONS″ shows the location of the main components of the system.
The main landing gear retracts laterally, into the wing and fuselage.
The main landing gear has two wheels and tires, brake assemblies,
and wheel speed transducers. The main landing gear turns on a
hinge on the wing structure and there are doors attached to it which
open laterally.
The nose landing gear retracts forward into the nose wheelwell
compartment. The nose landing gear has two wheels and tires, as
well as taxi and landing lights.
Retraction and extension of the landing gear is hydraulic with
mechanical locking at the up and down positions. The emergency
extension is of the free-fall type.
The crew operates the landing gear retraction and normal extension
through the ″Landing Gear Control Lever″ installed on the cockpit
