SIP PHASE-1: MOBILE NUMBER PORTABILITY OF
CUSTOMERS FROM OTHER TELECOM OPERATORS TO
AIRTEL, NEW CUSTOMER ACQUISITON AND TEAM
MANAGEMENT:-
Objective of the task:-
 To acquire more number of competitor’s
customers to become our customers.
 To increase the market value of airtel in the
market.
 To obtain huge consumer network all over the city.
 To ensure the fastest growing network of india to
reach each and every consumer of the region. And
make them experience the fast network
connectivity.

Task procedures:-
 I was assigned by my mentor Mr. Ashok Nandi to
work under the guidance of Mr. Dhananjay Jena
on the first day.
 Then further my guide assigned me with some of
the promotors(airtel pratinidhi) as my
subordinates.
 I leaded, guided, and assisted them during the
work process.
 Our work was to go different locations in
Bhubaneswar and put up our kiosk setup, and
promote our brand on behalf of the promotional
offer set by the company to the customers to port
their phone numbers from other operators to
airtel.
 Customers wanting to purchase new sim card
were welcomed but that was not counted in our
daily targets.
 The daily target was 10 MNPs per day, and
increase more numbers if achieved the target
early.
 Customers were asked to bring their original
documents (aadhar,voter id,etc) and within
5minutes our promoter does the procedure.

Learning Experiences
 Learnt how to convince a customer and how to
deal with their problems and give them solution
and simultaneously make them accept your offer.
 Learnt how convince a customer who is
disappointed on the company, and how to make
him our customer again by showing proof of our
upgrades.
 Learnt how to choose location according to timing.
During this lockdown and shutdown first half
timing was suitable to choose busy and crowded
locations whereas second half timing required to
go inside colonies, slums, and door to door
promotion.
 Biggest thing I have learnt is how to study a
customers psychology with the first interaction
with him.
 Another good thing I have learnt is how to make
an offer to a customer that he cant refuse to take
it and how to make him have you as the only
option in the market.
 Learnt how to work with my subordinates
(promotors) to make them work efficiently and
effectively.

Limitations & Challenges and how to Overcome them:-


 Network unavailability in certain areas were a
great challenge for me as customer just argued
with us about the poor network availability, so
there I had to do comparison test with Ookla app
among the other operators with airtel.
 Our biggest competitor Jio had created such
business tactics to hold customers that many
customers inspite of desiring to port their jio
number to airtel cannot opt to as their validity has
expired and in order to generate the UPC code
they need to recharge minimum with a monthly
pack of rs.149,for android phones. But we used
spare jio phones to recharge the customers
account with just rs.75. As minimum validity pack
for jio phones is 75rs.
 Even with the customers who only use jio phones
have no option for porting their jio numbers to
airtel as jio phones do not support any other sim
cards and the customer just could not buy a new
phone for us.
 Our competitor companies sometimes have their
servers down by which UPC code doesn’t get
generated throughout the day. For which we train
the customers with techniques how to generate
the code and when code is generated afterwards
we visit their place for doing mnp or else complete
the other formalities previously and just leave the
UPC code pending.
 Customers who have their one or more months
left for their validity to expire generally refuse to
port their numbers but we provide same offers in
a different manner to manipulate their mind and
do the MNP.
