Direction: Answer the following question in one paragraph.

1. Is your house suitable for your needs? Why?

Yes, our house is suitable for my needs because it has bedroom that I can sleep on, it
has a proper bathroom to take shower ever day, and it has a living room that has television on
it. Dining room has table to eat properly and our kitchen has equipment to cook foods. It is
important to have a home that can provide security, comfort and privacy. Even if our house is
simple we live happily, we stored wonderful memories, and we love one another, and support
each other. Suitability is achieved if you experience comfort and adequate space for eating,
sleeping and recreation.
2. How would you make your house suitable for your needs?
 To make my house suitable for my needs I make sure that it has facilities for
sleeping, working and receiving visitors.
 Strong and safe structure to protect my family from the weather
 Clean and orderly room
 Privacy
 Convenient location
 Adequate supply of water
 Proper ven9tilation and lighting

Land – People need a land to build a house. A house that people live in

Supply- Supply of food is needed for the family to survive. Water supply and power supply is
needed as well.

Rural- In rural area there are fewer people and their home and businesses are located far from
one another.

Congestion- A situation in which a place I too crowded causing difficulties to people


Analysis:

 Overpopulation
 The houses are made of poor quality materials

 If the house lacks pace and privacy, use a build in and hanging cabinets double-
purpose and folding furniture.
 If the fund for the house construction is short, apply for a loan from the
government agencies.
 Maximize the use of land through proper zoning. Zoning means designating the
development of certain areas for specific purposes.

 Population can affect the lives of families because increasing numbers of people
creates problem on space and facilities
 Industrialization it can affect the lives of families because it can lessen the area intended
for housing projects

Lesson 3: Making an Ideal Home

Motivational Activity:

Direction: Draw a living room on a short bond paper. Draw lines to show in which part of
the living room the principles of design are used. Color your work to accentuate your
drawing.

Analysis:

Direction: Make an insight about your drawing in a motivational activity.

 My insight about my drawing is that the living room that I draw is simple it has a sofa, a
table that has flower vase on it. It has painting and design on the wall. Living room it is a
room where you entertain guests and loved ones.

 Emphasis decides which part of the room should be emphasized. Balance gives the
feeling of stability in the room. Proportion shows harmonious relationship among
various elements of art. Rhythm relates to organized movements. Harmony produces the
impression unity through the arrangement of the objects.

2. How you will observe balance in your living room?


 Balance creates equilibrium which is needed to achieve order and design. In living rooms
you should add color and contrast. Contrast is what makes the room visually interesting.
In living room large furniture can be placed against or parallel to the window, a light sofa
must face the door.

3. Why are cabinets necessary in the bedroom?


 It is necessary to have cabinets in the bedroom so that there are enough cabinets for
clothes and personal belongings
4. What is the implication of a flower vase or fruit tray at the center of the dining
table?
 A Fruit tray or bouquet of fresh flowers on flat vase could be placed at the counter of the
table.
Lesson 4:

Maintaining Cleanliness and Orderliness at Home

Motivational Activity:

Direction: Look for household cleaning tips and write them on a separate sheet of paper.

1. Clean the whole house, not one room at a time.


2. Gather all your cleaning tools in a caddy
3. Clear the clutter
4. Dust and vacuum
5. Wipe mirrors and glass
6. Disinfect countertops and surface areas
7. Focus on tubs, sinks and toilets
8. Sweep, then mop
9. Keep moving when you vacuum
10. Don’t forget to routinely wash your cleaning tools
11. Make cleaning a group activity

 Housekeeping is important to make sure that the house is clean and organize. Food,
cleaning supplies, and other household items are kept in stock. Your house is a safe place
for yourself and your family

 To be more effective in maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness in the house, we
should group the housekeeping tasks.
 Daily task like cooking, cleaning the house washing the dishes and many more.
 Weekly tasks- marketing, ironing, mopping and many more
 Occasional tasks – cleaning the window

 My insight about the picture is that you should know simple house repair. People need to
learn doing simple repair at home because in life we need to learn everything. If you have
knowledge about home repair you can preserve your house and also save your family
from expenses.

1. Why it is important to learn how to do simple home repairs at home?


 You should learn simple home repairs to save from expenses. Home repairs are necessary
for the safely of the family. By inspecting your house regularly, cleaning and repairing it,
you will have the assurance that your family is safe.

2. Why do we need to understand the basic concept underlying the process and
delivery in home repair and maintenance?

 Home repair involves the diagnosis and resolution of problems in home and home
maintenance is important because it saves you money. Home maintenance keeps your
home running effectively
