Episode 6 provides opportunities for me to have a more in-depth study of factors that
affect the development of a learner. Focus will be on the early experiences and characteristics
of the learner as describe by the family and other significant others.
MY LEARNING ESSENTIALS
Urie Bronfenbrenner ‘s Bio-ecological model presents the learner within the context of
layers of relationship system that make up the learner’s environment. The layers are:
Microsystem includes the structure such as one’s family, school and neighborhood.
Chronosystem is the element of time, patterns of stability and pacing of the child’s
everyday life.
MY MAP
To realize my Intended Learning outcomes, I will work my way through these steps:
General Instruction: Use the activity form provided for you to document your
observations.
MY TOOLS
Read the following carefully before you begin to observe. Then write your observation
report.
Health
Mother’s health during pregnancy with the learner:
When Juvy’s mother is still carrying her, her mother’s health during pregnancy is okay and not
so complicated.
Juvy started to talk and walk when she is still 1 year old.
When Juvy still a child, her favorite food is spaghetti and chicken
Juvy is friendly. But sometimes, she gets shy when there are people in their house. She
have friends in the facebook.
Yes
My expectations to my child is that she will focus on her modules for as to finish her
studies someday. I believe that she will succeed someday and get a work.
Does your child go to you when she/he feels down or has a problem? What do you do to
meet his/her emotional needs?
Yes, she did not get into a secret what ever her problems, she always asks and consult us
together with her father for what is the best solution regarding on her problem.
By telling and advising her to what are those things that might be happen. I am surely that
she is very responsible as she can.
I imposed these rules by reminding and telling Juvy always so she cannot forget those
things.
If she breaks one of my rules, she will not use anymore her cellphone in one week. I will
confiscate it.
Shevwas doing well at school said by her teacher. Her modules pass on the time.
Her favorite subject is science and English. But mathematics is her difficulty subject.
How do you monitor his/her performance in school? How do you motivate him/her?
I monitor her by checking her modules if all of the questions are answered, as well as by
checking her grades. I motivated her always to do good.
Do you have rules at home to help him to develop good study habits?

In paragraph form, describe the cognitive development of the learner. Combine the teacher’s, parent’s
responses and your own observation.
The learner is doing well in their class. When I saw her modules, most of her answers
definitely correct. She is very mindful when it comes in answering her modules.
Findings
Write here your salient findings about the learner.
I saw that the learner that I interviewed, is very active and participative in her class. She is very
aware of what are those things that can be done at that day.
The term home and school are very allied in each other. These two places have a big role in each
learners’, it can give the learner an ideas, thoughts, theories as well as information’s, not only for the
four corners of the room but also it can teach each and everyone how life is very elated, both of them
can impart each learner to active not only physically, mentally, socially, emotionally and also spiritually
aspect. Therefore, I conclude, that home-school connection of the learner is really helps a lot in the
development of each learner.
Recommendations
Write your recommendations.
My recommendation to the learner is she must interact to others for as she will have a lot of
friends. It is normal to be cautious during first time they met, but we do not know what others
think, some of them are very mindful in the first impression”, so all we need to do is talk to
them with respect and do not be shy when they are asking about you.
MY ANALYSIS
Your findings and recommendations in the Learner Development Profile will help
you answer the questions here.
1. From your home visit and interview, what do you think is the style of parenting
experienced by the learner? Explain your answer.
Authoritative is the style of parenting experienced by the learner. The parent of the
learner especially the mother is strict when it comes answering the modules of her
daughter. She is very particular in the time. But all I can say is both parents of Juvy are
very endearing and supportive to their child.
2.Relating your data with what you learned from child development, what family
factors do you think contribute to the development and over-all adjustment of the
learner in school.
As I relate the data that I gathered through interview, I may say that a family is
one of the essential parts of the learner’s motivation. It is greatly affecting the
over all growth of each learners. if his/her family positively encourage and
motivated their children therefore, positive response will give back by their
children. These things will be the guide of their child to be more actively
participated the things or activity that being done in their school.
MY REFLECTIONS/ INSIGHTS
1. Reflect on your family’s orientation. What can you say about your parents’ way of
disciplining you? Do they have rules? How did it affect you as a person and as a
learner?
Authoritarian is the type of parenting that I experienced. Both of my parents are very strict on
me because I am the eldest among my brothers. There’s a lot of rules that they impart to me.
They have high expectations regarding on my academic matters. It really affects me to mold as
a person because of that experiences, it is very helpful in each one of us to have a very serious
type of parent. I am so blessed that they are parents, because of them I really appreciate what
life it is. And very grateful that every problem, circumstances as well as issues that we may face
is absolutely granted and have an enough solution on that kind of difficulties.
3. As a future teacher, how would you establish good home-school collaboration? How can
you work well with the parents? How can you help them? How can they help you?
Paste a photo of the school here and the community where the child your
observed lives, then create an acrostic for the word HOME-SCHOOL LINK.
