ACCOMPLISHMENTS/EXPERIENCE
Special Education Classroom Experience (2016-2017)-
Due to my interest in becoming a special education teacher, I elected to spend a free period at school as a peer facilitator in a
special education classroom. This lead to having the opportunity to work with many students with different disabilities, and
learning how to communicate with and teach each one. It also gave me the chance to volunteer at the Forsyth County Schools
Special Olympics, where I got to help out with the activities and monitor the students. The special education teachers gave
much valuable insight into their job, which reinforced my interest in the role of a special education teacher.

Vickery Creek Elementary After-School Program Worker (2017-2018)-

Through August 2017 to May 2018, I worked at the after-school program at Vickery Creek Elementary. I mainly worked with
5th grade and 2nd grade. Every day, I would help the students with their homework and play with them, making sure that they
had an enjoyable time while also being safe and adhering to the rules. I worked closely with special education students and
students with behavioral issues, making sure they felt included and helping to reform the behavioral issues in order to make
the after-school program more enjoyable and run more smoothly.

Special Education Major at Georgia College and State University (2018-current)-

I am currently an education major and applied to the special education cohort in Spring 2020 with the plans of becoming a
special education teacher. I have completed the pre-requisite education classes and have completed over 20+ hours of field
experience, including experience shadowing at Nurturing Minds Tutoring Tutorials in Milledgeville, GA. I have been accepted
into the Special Education Cohort starting Fall 2020 after an extensive application and interview process. I have student taught
for a year in two elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school.

YMCA Camp Eagle Point Counselor (Summer 2019 and 2020)-

I was a camp counselor at YMCA Camp Eagle Point for the summer of 2019. I worked with all age groups, primarily with the 7-
8- and 9-10-year old’s. I became lifeguard certified, which lasts for two years, as well as CPR certified, which is valid until May
2021. I interacted with the children on a daily basis, as well as often stepping in for the Lead position if one was absent.
