Lesson Plan for Grade IV

I. OBJECTIVES
 To classify adjectives according to number, quality, size and color.
 To arrange two or more adjectives on their proper order when used to
describe a noun or a pronoun.
 To promote cooperation and team spirit upon the pupils.
II. SUBJECT MATTER
Grammar – series of adjectives

Alloted time: 30 minutes

Good morning class good morning sir/mam

You may now take your seat thank you sir/mam! (pupils will be
seated)

Do you still remember what we had

discussed yesterday? Yes… sir/mam, we discussed about


adjectives

very good! And what is an adjective? Yes.. sir/mam, an adjective is a word or


group of words that describe a
noun or a pronoun.

Very well said!

 PRESENTATION STAGE

Class, before we start our next lesson we

are going to play a game? Do you want to

play a game? Yes we are!

Very good! The title of the game is “Describe Me!”

The game will goes like this, I will present to

you a certain picture and you are going to describe

it using an adjective. The group that will list more

adjectives within one minute wins. Do you

understand? Yes sir/mam

What is an adjective? Yes…. Adjective is a word or group of


words that describe a noun or a
pronoun.

Very good! You said that adjective can be a

group of words. What if two or more adjectives

are used to describe a noun or a pronoun?

Is there a rule for that? Sir , when two or more adjectives


are used to describe a noun or a
pronoun, it should be said in a
proper order.

That’s it! Very good! It should be in a series!

What is then the proper order of adjectives? Yes.. sir, series of adjectives follow a
certain order – the number first,
then the quality, then the size, the
color plus the noun or the
pronoun being described.

Now, somebody from the group who will classify

and arrange the following adjectives on their

proper order? Yes… (pupil answers)

How about the other set of adjectives there? Yes.. (pupil answers)

are used to describe a noun or a
pronoun, it should be said in a
series or proper order.

adjectives? Sir, the series of adjectives follow

 Controlled Practice Stage

Class, did you understand how to arrange

adjectives on their proper order? Yes we are!

We will test that by playing our next game!

we are going to the existed groupings and the

title of our game will be “arrange it properly”.

What is the title of our game? “Arrange it properly!”

I need five representatives from each group.

Please make a line at the back seat. (pupils make a line)

What you are going to do is to arrange the

following adjectives on the board on their proper

order individually. The turn of each player starts

when the player before the next player finished

the task and come back to the starting point.

One number for each player and the group that

will finished the task faster wins. Is it clear? Yes it is!

In our next activity, I will present to you a drawing

and you are going to describe it by using an

adjective. I will give you one minute to list down

all of the adjectives you want to use to describe it.

Now, after you enlisted various adjectives that

describe the drawing, I want you to use it to

form one paragraph. You are going to use two

or more adjectives to describe a noun or a pronoun

within a sentence and be aware of their proper order.

It should be a maximum of five sentences only and

you are going to finish it within five minutes.

practice using adjectives on their proper order
