    Research Methodology

    The research paper deals with the issues in old construction techniques and use of
    technology in Architecture of Dehradun. First, a study of buildings and general
    masterplan needs to be done of the specific areas of Dehradun to know about the
    evolution of developement in Dehradun. Dehradun has various cultures as well as
    different architecture is evolved in different areas. So an analysis needs to be
    done to know the reasons for different architecture at different places. A basic
    research will need to be done along with a survey that will give us the reasons.
    Then there will be an analysis which would give us the issues that Dehradun is
    dealing with its architecture. Along with analysis of its evolution, a study is
    also to be done to know the traditional and vernacular construction techniques that
    are already being used in the city. At this step, a basic analysis of the evolution
    of the skyline due to the use of technology will be achieved. The analysis old
    vernacular construction techniques and use of technology in construction of
    buildings will give us the issues that Dehradun is dealing with its construction
    and what scope it has in future. A research on the works by Neri Oxman will be done
    and a solution for a better use of technnology and nature together can be analysed.
    A research on the projects by Chris Precht also needs to be done as his projects
    involves the use of technology and wooden architecture, wood being a local material
    for Dehradun. A research on some projects by Bjarke Ingels will also need to be
    done to influence our solutions with better use of advanced technology in
    construction and sustainable architecture. The final result will have better
    construction techniques involving advanced technologies working hand in hand with
    the vernacular architecture with an influence of works by the architects that we
    have studied, giving us a glimpse of a future for Dehradun.
