LESSON 4

Activity 1 TIKTOK IS A RULE!

Directions: Study the rules of playing track and field events. Make a Tik Tok video about the rules.

Activity 2 This is my judgment.

Directions: Below are situations for you to analyze. Based on the rules discussed earlier, what would be
your judgment?

SITUATION I A team coach enter on the track and resets or moves the hurdle so that an athlete can warm
up and do run-outs before a race. Is it acceptable? Why or why not?

 In an outdoor or field events, there is always an orientation about the specific rules, terms and
even facilities to be used. When these are set up already, no one is allowed to alter or change any
of them and when someone is about to do any changes would result to the default of the game or
disqualification of any team that will violate.

SITUATION II In the 800m run, on command, the competitors step up to their marks. The starter fires
then gun, starting the race. The recall starter immediately fires the gun, calling the competitors back.
After the Starters discuss the situation, a competitor is disqualified as they had started the race with their
foot on the start line. Is this correct for this situation?

 In a race, there’s always a discussion before the race starts. It is not allowed for the starter to “go”
signal or command and immediately “stop” command for the instructions because these will lead
to misconception and misunderstanding of the competitors.

SITUATION III During a distance race, a coach was observed inside the track running along the
backstretch from turn 2 to turn 3, while calling instructions to the athletes. Is this considered violation,
pacing by persons not participating in the event?

 I have so much experiences in different contests not just in games, I had been seen those coaches
are a bit far away from the delegates because it may be stated on circulars that no one should be
inside or near from the area where delegates are in. Therefore, I guess that this situation likewise
applied in games that no one inside the area where players are in and the game is currently going
on.
