Content: The Sun, 4.3 Safety Precautions


Content Standard: The Learners demonstrate understanding the sun as the main source of heat and light
Performance Standard: The learners should be able to practice precautionary measures in planning activities
Learning Competency: Describe the effects of the Sun (S4ES-IVj-11)

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the pupils should be able to:
- Identify ways to protect oneself from the exposure to intense light and heat of the sun.
- Demonstrates the proper use of the things (hat, sunblock lotion, sunglasses, and umbrella) on
protecting oneself from the excessive heat of the sun.
- Shows awareness of protecting oneself from the exposure of intense heat.

Values Integration:
Awareness on the effects of the sun to people

II. Subject Matter

- Being aware of the bad effects of heat could enable us to come up with the ways to protect ourselves
from dangers.

A. Preliminary Activities (One pupil will lead the Prayer)

1. Opening Prayer
“Let us pray first” -“Good Morning Ma’am!, Good morning

protects them from burning their skin.

“What did you notice in children who are -“Children who don’t apply sunscreen on their skin

VI. Generalization
The umbrella, hat, sunglasses and
sunblock lotion are things we can use to
protect us from the excessive heat of the
sun.
To protect ourselves from the light and
heat of the sun, we can do simple things
such as:
1. We should avoid playing under the
sun when it is high noon.
2. Let us not look directly to the sun.
3. Apply sunblock lotion when we go
swimming.

can be harmful because it can cause sunburn”
