LEARNING By end of the lesson, pupils will be able to revise and understand the usage
OBJECTIVES: of present simple tense: affirmative, negative, questions and short answers
by obtaining at least 3 of 5 fill in the blanks questions and construct at least
3 of 5 questions with true answers correctly.

ACTIVITIES: I. PRE-LESSON (Pair Work) (5 minutes)

1. Pupils are asked to work in pairs for this activity.


2. In pairs, pupils are asked to make two sentences about the favourite
colours of their selves and also their partner respectively.
3. Pupils are picked randomly in pairs to present the sentences to the
class.
4. Pupils are guided on how to present both the sentences to the class
just as written in the box below.

II. LESSON DEVELOPMENT (15 minutes)


Pupils are asked to open PULSE 2 book page 19.

ACTIVITY 1

1. Pupils listen carefully to the spelling rules on page 19 of PULSE 2


book.
2. Pupils are given Worksheet 1 (APPENDIX 1).
3. Pupils are asked to read and complete Worksheet 1 individually
based on the spelling rules explained.
4. Pupils exchange their Worksheet 1 with their partner next to them to
compare the answers and also check answers as a class.
5. Pupils are nominated in random to read and answer Worksheet 1 as
a class
6. Pupils listen to the explanation on the usage of auxiliary verb do in
forming negative sentences and questions in English.

ACTIVITY 2 (Pair work)


1. Pupils shown an example of a question to answer in Exercise 2.
2. Pupils are asked to read and complete Exercise 2 in pairs.
3. Pupils exchange their answers with their partner next to them to
compare their answers and later check answers as a class.
4. Pupils are reminded about the usage of present simple which is to
talk about habits, routines and permanent situations.

III. POST-LESSON (10 minutes)

ACTIVITY 1 (Pair work)

1. Pupils listen to the explanation on Exercise 3 and get nominated to


read aloud the example question and answer.
2. Pupils’ understanding of the phrase ‘belong to’ are checked.
3. Pupils are asked to read and complete Exercise 3 in pairs.
4. Pupils compare answers in pairs and check answers as a class.
5. Pupils listen to the explanation about Worksheet 2 (APPENDIX II)
and are asked to complete it as their homework.
 The whole lesson is recapped.
REFLECTIONS: The lesson could not be completed due to time factor, however ¾ of the
pupils whom were present were able to understand the lesson accordingly.
