TASK 2: Read the work of W.K Gabrenya Jr. entitled Overview of Psychology Research
Methods. Examine each type of research method used in psychology and read the summary of
the types of variables. Perform the task using task, using the following guidelines:
1. Recall the four types of variables of measurement from the materials you read. Propose
different topics you would like to study using the statistical variables in the study. Give at
least 5 topics you want to conduct as your research.
2. Using that draft proposal, imagine that you are one member of a research team that will
represent your school. Your given 5 topics (form step1) will be your proposal in an
upcoming competition. Create a matrix of research methods you will use for each topic in
order to come up with an excellent research proposal and win the competition. You can

1. Influence of differences in This topic can be can be used in a Differential research
religion, cultural and moral beliefs because here the topic is a study about relationships of

3. The effects of physical Correlational would be the appropriate method in this topic
appearance in the self-esteem and because this study will investigate a correlation between the
academic performance of late adolescence's perception of their "physical appearance" and
adolescence college students Its effects to their self-esteem and academic performance.
4. Influence of movies and TV This Topic can also be classified as Correlational research
series in motivation of students to because the objective in this study is to find out whether
pursue a college degree influence from a movie can be a factor for a student in high
school to decide what college degree to choose. So it’s a
correlation between movie influence and motivation or
inspiration to pursue a certain college degree.
5. The effects of social media to This topic is an example of a simple Correlational research
self-resilience of young adults about the relationship of social media use to coping or self-
resilience of young adults. This study is ideal to be
conducted on sample population of young adults because
young adults (who are ages 20-35) are the ones who uses
social media most often and the ones who are dealing with
lots of stress in different aspects of life such as studies,
career, family life and others.
