discontinue the printing of hardbound volumes a strategic move?

2. What were the disruptors that made the company arrive at this
decision? Research if necessary.
3. Do you think that people will use Encyclopedia Britannica even if
it is not in hardbound anymore?
a. Provide points that will prove that people prefer
Encyclopedia Britannica over Wikipedia and other
websites.
b. Provide points that will prove that people prefer
Wikipedia and other websites over Encyclopedia
Britannica.

Answers:
1. It is a strategic move. 35 years in the making to be exact. The
reason behind the long process was they were doing a trial and
error to ensure that their plan would go smooth when it is
perfect. And as they encounter problems, they make sure that the
next move would be a better one.
2. The main reason was because of other companies that provides
better proposal that them. If they continue with the hardbound
process, their company will lose. That is why, they decided to
make it digital so that they can still provide knowledge to
people without the help of a computer.
3. I presume it will be like the first year when Encyclopedia
Britannia was released to the public. It will be a huge success
because even though it gives knowledge of the past, its format is
ahead of its time.

a. People will prefer Encyclopedia Britannica over the other

competitors because, Encyclopedia Britannica has their own
writers/editors that will provide authentic information
plus, the Encyclopedia is already published for 244 years.
It would not last that long if they don’t provide valid
information. Unlike Wikipedia, Wikipedia’s content can be
edited by anyone making it vulnerable to fake information
that is why when it comes to conducting research, our
professors don’t recommend Wikipedia as a source for
research materials.
b. Other people will prefer Wikipedia over Encyclopedia
Britannica. Why? Because Wikipedia is a free encyclopedia
making it convenient, you just need an internet connection
and you can already have an access to their contents
whereas Encyclopedia Britannica, you will have to pay less
than a 100$. Not everyone has the money to pay for that,
that is why other people prefer Wikipedia over
Encyclopedia Britannica.
