3. What issues does it deal with?

Valuing
Summary/Generalization
Intertext is putting a text in relation to another text, usually through direct quotes or references. A
book that quotes another book to compare, contrast, or expand on a point is using intertext.
Hypertext by it’s nature is purely a computer construct. It’s a way of providing clickable links to
other sections of a document, or other documents on the internet. It’s the basis of what we know
of as the world wide web, but it started it’s life as more basic links within a document - for
example clicking on a line in the table of contents would take you to that chapter. It even pre-
dates WYSIWIG and mouse driven interfaces.
TRANSFER
 Students will do the activity in groups of five.
 Let students read the full speech of President Quezon again.
 After they have read and researched on the text, instruct them to create a Wiki entry
inspired by President Quezon’s speech.
https://www.officialgazette.gov.ph/1939/12/09/speech-of-president-quezon-on-civil-
liberties-december-9-1939/
 They are to decide which aspect of the speech they find interesting (e.g., traits of
Filipinos, values education in schools) and then come up with text describing that aspect.
 Tell them to link together relevant pictures, videos or music that would make the readers
interested.

Assessment/ Evaluation
Directions: Identify the development of context in the music video, Love Story by Taylor Swift.
State in your paper if it employed hypertext or intertextuality. Explain why. Do this by writing a

In a one whole sheet of paper, write a 200-word critique of a song of your own choice (it can be
OPM or English) and point out the intertextuality present in its lyrics/music video. Write it in a
