Similarities of Philippines and Thailand

The Thailand literature have been dominated by a colourful yet shallow mixture of popular and
academic history, travel guides, coffee-table cookbooks and expatriate-penned thrillers that amplify the
country’s less-savory aspects which is same with the Philippines literature that expose to many kind of
literary works introducing the culture and custom of Filipinos.

Comparison of Philippines and Thailand

Thailand literature was entirely the province of the king and his court: the king maintained a corps of
writers, and it was the custom to attribute authorship of any literary work to the king himself. While the
Philippines literature is associated with the legends of prehistory, and colonial legacy of the Philippines.
Pre-hispanic Philippine literature were actually epics passed on from generation to generation originally
through oral tradition. And in terms of culture, Philippine seems much more western influenced
personality and sense of humor.

Thailand lacks good translator in English because the interest in Thailand from foreigners is rarely on the
modern Thai arts. While in the Philippine literature in English has achieved a stature that is, in a way, a
phenomenal since the inception of English in our culture. This is evidence on the Filipino authors and
their literary works that express their sentiments while struggling with a foreign medium.

Similarities of Philippines and Myanmar

Myanmar literature reflect local folklore and culture. Burmese literature of Myanmar played a key role
in disseminating nationalism among Burmese during colonial era which is same in the Philippines
because the Philippine literature reflects a diverse group of works which are mostly grounded on
traditional folktales, socio-political histories, and real-life experiences. Such books have since promoted
Filipino cultural values, told daily struggles of local, and have installed a remarkable lesson.

Myanmar gradually replaced English as the medium of instruction and literature become more
nationalistic which is same in the Philippines since during the American Colonial Period, the American
influenced deeply entrenched with the firm establishment of English as the medium of instruction in all
schools and with literary modernism that highlighted the writers’ individuality of the Philippines.

Comparison of Philippines and Myanmar

In terms of Religious Manuscripts and Books, the Buddhist books which is use in Myanmar are much
broader than tall, whereas western books are usually more tall than broad. Also, Buddhist monks were
influential in developing Burmese literature of Myanmar. While in Philippines, the Philippine literature
has been influenced by former European power contributed much in the shaping and recording of our
literature. Religion and institutions that represented European civilization enriched the languages of
lowlands, and introduced theater.
