The Prodigal Son - Story Summary:

The story of the Prodigal Son, also known as the Parable of the
Lost Son, follows the parables of the Lost Sheep and the Lost
Coin. Jesus is responding to the Pharisees' complaint: "This man
welcomes sinners and eats with them."
Jesus tells the story of a man who has two sons. The younger son
asks his father to give him his portion of the family estate as an
early inheritance. Once received, the son promptly sets off on a
long journey to a distant land and begins to waste his fortune on
wild living. When the money runs out, a severe famine hits the
country and the son finds himself in dire circumstances. He takes a
job feeding pigs. He is so destitute that he even longs to eat the
food assigned to the pigs.
The young man finally comes to his senses, remembering his
father. In humility, he recognizes his foolishness, decides to return
to his father and ask for forgiveness and mercy. The father who
had been watching and waiting, receives his son back with open
arms of compassion. He is overjoyed by the return of his lost son!
Immediately the father turns to his servants and asks them to
prepare a giant feast in celebration.
Meanwhile, the older son is not one bit happy when he comes in
from working the fields and discovers a party going on to celebrate
his younger brother's return. The father tries to dissuade the older
brother from his jealous rage explaining, "You are always with me,
and everything I have is yours."
The necklace
By guy de maupassant
"The Necklace" tells the story of Madame Mathilde Loisel and her
husband. Mathilde always imagined herself in a high social position
with wonderful jewels. However she has nothing and marries a low
paid clerk who tries his best to make her happy.
Through lots of begging at work, he is able to get two invitations to
the Ministry of the Public Instruction party. Mathilde then refuses to
go, for she has nothing to wear. Her husband is upset to see her
displeasure and, using money that he was saving to buy a rifle, he lets
Mathilde buy a dress that suits her. But Mathilde is still not happy, she
wants jewels to wear with it. Since they have no money left, her
husband suggests that she borrow something from her friend, Madame
Jeanne Forestier. Mathilde picks out the fanciest jewel necklace that
she can find. After attending the Ministry of Public Instruction party,
Mathilde discovers that she has lost the necklace.
Mathilde and her husband look everywhere but the necklace is not to
be found. They take out loans from generous friends and loan sharks
to buy a necklace that looks just like the one that was lost. It takes
them ten years of hard labor to come up with the 36,000 francs
necessary to pay them back. Toward the end, Mathilde takes a walk
remembering her past and that night when the necklace was lost.
Suddenly she sees Madame Jeanne Forestier and goes to meet her but
she (Madame Forestier) can't recognize her (Mathilde) due to the
wrinkles on Mathilde's face. Mathilde confesses about that night and
how she worked so hard to return her necklace. Mme. Forestier,
deeply moved, tells Mathilde that the one she had borrowed was fake
and that it was worth at most 500 francs.
Summary of Ibong Adarna
In the Kingdom of Berbanya, King Fernando had a dream that his two sons Don Pedro(eldest) and
Don Diego would conspire against his youngest son, Don Juan.  While thinking too much about it
he became sick.  Healers could not heal him but one suggested that only an adarna bird could save
him.

Don Pedro the eldest brother went on the quest to the mountain of Tabor to look for the adarna
bird.  He does find it on a piedras platas tree and falls asleep from the birds singing.  After the
Sevent song of the bird, it defacated on him and turned him to stone (kinda like medusa but
reversible)

After one year of waiting the king sent out his other son. And then the same thing happened.  He
got defacated on and turned to stone.  Now on the  third try  (what a selfish king send out his sons
to die, its not logical)   Don Juan also sought after the bird but luckily he met a hermit who gave
him the low down on the bird.   The hermit tells teaches him how to capture the bird and how to
retrogress his two brothers.   After capturing when the two brothers were restored they started to
conspire (which makes the kings dream true)   The two brothers knocked Don Juan out and left him
in the woods but luckily the same hermit found him and cured don juan. After that don Juan went
back to the kingdom.

In the kingdom, the two brothers presented the bird to the king but was the bird was unable to heal
him.  But when the Don Juan arrived the bird started singing and the king was cured.  The king was
very happy but then again the two brothers plotted against him again and while don juan was
sleeping the two brother released the bird so that it would look like it was don juan’s  fault.

The three brothers were then sent again on a quest to find the bird (what a waste of time)   They
were unable to find the bird but they encountered two beautiful princesses inside a deep well.
(kinda weird) They bailed them out but one of the brothers cut the cord while don juan was
climbing and left don juan inside the well. Luckily again don juan had a magical ring lent by don
Leonora which kinda fixed everything for him in his ordeal.   On his way back to the kingdom he
got lost, He encountered three princesses again and fell in love with one of them lucky for him, No
brothers to conspire against him.  He professes his love to one of them and she liked him back.  But
there was a hitch, her father the king of the kingdom of crystals was a very possessive king.  But
Don Juan, being brave decided to meet the father even he was an evil deceitful person.  The king
gives him impossible tasks but Don Juan manages to accomplish them.  The Princess  (dona maria)
warns her that her  father had no intention of giving her away. So they escaped.  The king was hot
on their trail and was catching up.  Don Juan had no choice but to leave Dona maria somewhere so
he could get help.

When don juan went back to the kingdom dona Leonora stepped in with a little magic making him
forget about dona maria.  A wedding was soon arranged but for some reason dona maria was able
to make it to that kingdom and managed to create a stand off between two kingdoms (ala Helen of
troy  maybe)  then everything was resolved. Don Juan and Dona Maria were married. And they
lived happily ever after.
