(GVST)

Mentored by Coach Junnie Roxas, GVST is hosted by Grandvilla Hotel in Pateros but also
having training sessions in Army Gym and Ultra swimming pools.

Established in 2014, it had participated in its first swimming meet, the 62nd PSL Leg-PSL
Motivational (C & Novice) Swim Meet held on 26 July 2014 where the De Guzman siblings,
Rowena and Risha competed.
The 11-year old Rowena won a Gold Medal in the 50m Backstroke and 8-year old Risha grabbed
a bronze medal in the 25m Breaststroke in the short course competition.

In 2015, the De Guzman siblings again competed in the 80th PSL Leg Series-VM Isko Moreno
Swim Cup on 8 Aug 2015. But this time, Rowena and Risha were joined by the eldest daughter
of Coach Junnie, Althea Roxas.
This time, Rowena won a Silver medal in 50m Backstroke behind Jesreel Francisco of JASST.

Rowena, Risha and Althea of GVST also saw action in the First Niyogyugan Fest. Swim
Challenge held 15 Aug 2015 in Lucena. GVST swimmers snatched a lot of medals and
dominated their respective competitions.

2016
2016 was the start of the busy years to come to GVST. The team raced in 18 swimming meets in
one year in Lucena, Pasig, Quezon City and Singapore.
The first meet for GVST was on March 2016 at MASA where Althea swam in the PSL-
organized swimming competition.
The first batch of Learn to swim tankers raced in the 28th VVCC Novice Age Group Inv'l Swim
Meet in June 2016 at Valle Verde Country Club.

The Novice swimmers competed again in the 95th PSL Leg - 9th NC Swimming Championship
held from 28 to 29 May 2016.

The first competition of the De Guzman siblings and the new members of GVST was in the 99th
PSL Leg - PSL-DPS N & M Swim Meet held 30 July 2016. Alex, Rowena and Risha were
declared as the Most Outstanding Swimmers at this meet.

The team also participated in the Gov. David Jay-Jay Suarez Swim Comp 2016 held on 20 Aug
2016 in Lucena.

GVST then saw in action in the 3rd Inter-School/Club Class ABC Swim Meet held from 28 to 28
Aug 2016 at Don Bosco in Mandaluyong.

In the team’s first international participation, the group of Jaden Valin, Lana Ballesteros, Kim
Quiambao and Jasmine Moelter was included in Philippine Swimming League’s (PSL)
delegation in the 22nd SSC Open Invitational Midget Meet on Sunday at the Singapore
Swimming Club competition pool in Singapore.

2017
Several GVST were selected to represent Taguig and Pateros in the Palarong NCR 2017 in Feb
2017 in Marikina.

For the first time, GVST was hailed as the champion in the 120th PSL Leg in Diliman
Preparatory School in Quezon City.

Rowena and Risha De Guzman competed in the 13th SICC Invitational Swimming
Championships held from 12 to 13 Aug, 2017 at the Singapore Island Country Club swimming
pool in Singapore.

A large number of GVST swimmers were selected to represent Taguig, Pateros and Pasig in the
2017 Batang Pinoy Luzon in Oct. 2017 in Vigan.

A number of GVST swimmers took part in the APSA-TAPAT Division Meet 2017 held on Nov.
2017 at Army Gym swimming pool. From then on, a couple of GVST Tankers were selected to
see action in the Palarong NCR in 2018 in Marikina.

2018
For the second time, GVST was hailed again as the overall champion in the 112th PSL Leg -
Class A, Class B-C and Novice, 12th Sen. Nikki Coseteng Championships held from 9 Apr 2018
in DPS.

GVST claimed the First runner-up in the 137th PSL Leg, also known as 13th Sen. Nikki
Coseteng Championships held from 10 to 11 June 2018 in DPS.

Risha De Guzman represented Philippines in the 42nd SEA Age Championships in Trace College
in Laguna.

GVST also competed in the 3rd Splash N Dash A-B-C Invitational Swim Meet held from 14 to
15 July in Bosay Resort, Antipolo.

Another De Guzman sibling joined the team with Marvin swimming in the 143rd PSL held on 5
Aug 2018 at Diliman Preparatory School in Quezon City. Overall, GVST claimed the first
runner-up trophy.

The team also participated in the 144th PSL Leg 3rd Gov David Suarez-Class AB&C held on
11Aug 2018 in Lucena. GVST snatched the third rank in this meet.
Kyle Zeth Sibayan, Kyle Louis Cornel, Althea Roxas, Denise Moira Baui, Lindsay Mamucod
and Arianne Bernaldez were declared as Most Outstanding Swimmers (MOS).

A good number of 12 and under age class GVST Tankers were selected in various Division
Meets held in Metro Manila from Nov. to Dec. 2018 to represent Taguig, Pateros, Pasig and
Pateros in the Palarong NCR in Taguig in 2019.

In the COC AFP Invitational Swim Challenge 2018 held last 8 Dec 2018, GVST secured a 3rd
place finish out of 23 teams. MT Alban Legends Swim Club Inc and Camp Aguinaldo
Streamlines ST came first and second respectively.

Summary
From 2014 to 2018, GVST has competed with the best swimmers in Luzon in at least 73
swimming meets, has garnered almost 1300 individual medals and awarded with a total of 120
MOS Awards for 39 GVST tankers.
In 2018 alone, GVST has took part in 24 meets, collected more than 460 individual medals and
has been awarded with 42 MOS Awards.
GVST swimmers have participated in swimming competitions in Vigan, Lucena, Bataan,
Pampanga, Metro Manila and overseas including Dubai, Doha, South Africa, Singapore and
Kenya.
