Calculation of wind load ( For Trestle TF1)

Basic wind velocity at Bilashpur 39m/sec
Basic wind pressure = 463.7x(39/33)2 = 648 N/m2
Solid area = 2 M2/M Solidity ratio = 0.2
Cp = 1.8 Gust factor = 2
Wind force, F = 4665.6 N/M = 0.47 T/M
Load on each trestle = 2.78 T
Load on one leg = 1.388 T

With the above values the trestles are designed using STAAD
STAAD file "TF1.std" is attached herewith

It may be seen that there is no uplift of any leg of the trestle.

Max. Horizontal force = 1.46 T

Trestle legs are connceted with 12 th. Plate through 8 th. Fillet weld.
Weld length - 50 MM on all sides.
Strength of 8 mm fillet weld = 0.7*8*110*80% = 492.8 N/MM
Weld length required = 30 MM O.K.

Calculation of pulling force for main truss

Wt. Of open web girder = 500 T

Hor. Force required for pulling over rollers = 3% of 500 T = 15 T [IRC 6]

Considering 3 sheave pulley on one side and 2 sheave pulley on the other, mechanical
advantage available = 5
So, force on each wire rope = 15/5 = 3.0 T
Use 16 dia wire rope and 5 T capacity winch for pulling.
Minimum breaking force of 16 dia wire rope = 13.3T [IS 2266]
