1. Check the reading in Activity 9 format and read carefully.
2. Complete the following exercises:
3. Are you familiar with the phrase “How have you been”? It is used to describe
how what has happened, has affected your situation now.
4. Look at the following situations, pick five, and write down how you’d answer
that question (how have you been?) in each case. Make sure you use at
least one sentence in simple past, and one in present perfect.

o You’ve gotten a job.


o Your wallet has been stolen.
o You’ve bought a house.
o You’ve won the lottery.
o You’ve failed an exam.
o You’ve lost your keys.
o You’ve passed your driving test.
o You’ve received a promotion.
o You’ve been to the dentist.
o Your house has burnt down.
o You’ve been on holiday.
o Your dog has run away.
o You’ve fallen in love.
o You’ve crashed your car.
o You’ve split up with your partner.

5. Now you’ll read what Nadine Stair (an 85-year-old woman) answered when
she was asked what she would do if she could live her life all over again. Go
to Activity 9 and read her answer.
6. Then, record yourself answering the following questions:

o Why do you think Nadine would dare to make more mistakes next
time? Find evidences on the text.
o How does she describe herself?
o Do you think you would regret so many things if you were her age?
Why or why not?

Think about your life. Look at the following questions and choose 1. Record

Yes because I set an appointment, and I’m on my way to the
dentist.

Yesterday I draw the lottery and today I got the news.

Because she lived her life without many risk.

One of those people who lived seriously and sanely hour after hour.
She is the kind of person to take many precautions.

No, because I would probably live my life based on the things that
made my happy.

Change something of the past to improve it and make it better.

Better society and the political system and better security.

If in fact if it will happen or not.

If i were invisible i would go to differents places like museums or other


like that.

5. What would you do differently if you could live your life all over
again?

If i can live again I would change a lot of bad things that I have done.
