ACIC1.0 Selection Process : Selection based on Application Type & Focus Area
Type of Applicants & Evaluation among the Focus Area:
• Academic applicants: UGC/AICTE Affiliated Institutions or Centrally funded institutions/ Private Universities, ITIs & Technical
Diploma Colleges Approved by State Govt.)
• Non-academic applicants could be Voluntary NGO, Sec 8 Company & other organizations (i.e. Trust, Society) having experience in
promotion of Science & Technology, Innovation in the country.
• Pooled application evaluation : Because of the diversity in the type of applicants, the selection criteria for each type of the
applicant has been kept different. A example of the same is listed in the table below:

ACIC1.0 Selection Process : Approaches to Balance Evaluation
Location of the applicant:
• Location Areas Focus:
1. Tier 2 & 3 cities, Smart cities
2. North East, Aspirational Districts, J&K, Rural & Tribal region,
3. Underserved/unserved areas of metro/Tier 1 cities.
• Relaxation Area wise: Applicant as per (II) in above to establish ACIC in North East states, Aspirational districts, J&K region, Rural
and Tribal areas are given relaxation in selection criteria.
• Pooled quota: The applicants shall be evaluated separately as per focus area among their own bunch and type (i.e. North East,
Aspirational Districts, J&K, Rural & Tribal regions). Example, applicants from North East will only compete among applications
received from NE states.
• Rural areas would be classified as: Rural A, B & C (proposed for ACIC establishment) based on their distance from nearest city
(Tier 1, 2 or 3) accordingly their type shall be decided based on focus area (I) to (III).
• Rural A - Tier 1 cities (50< x (km)<100),
• Rural B - applicants are close to Tier 2 cities (30< x (km)<60)
• Rural C - applicants are close to Tier 3 cities (x (km) > 20) and other rural areas.
